Re: Old Man River.

George, Great sound you have got here. Change of rhythm, and that super-deep voicing ... Ken mentioned Paul Robeson. I remember hearing him as a lad and thinking what a wonderful deep voice he had. Ol' Man River was from Showboat. Original version: Show Boat (1927) Music: Jerome Kern Lyrics: Oscar H...

Re: Trees

Charles, Wonderful soothing piano sound. Surely, this can't surely be the 'piano' on the AR? You said somewhere that you have a piano. Is that an electric one, or a real piano? Did you play this piece on that? Mmm .... The title has set me thinking on doing another YouTube video for you. I'm sure I ...

Re: Don’t let the sun catch you crying

Peter, That is some organ! Beautiful sounds emanating from it. Strings in particular, but I also really like the sound of the backing voices you have chosen to accompany this piece. A really 'soft' sound. Bit of choir in there? But I appreciate that it's not just the choice of Registrations. It's ho...

Re: Hero ...

Torben, This is fascinating! So what happens then? How do you get them to sing while you are playing to accompany them? Do you meet up somewhere? Or is it all done on line? And if so, do you play your accompaniment beforehand, and send it to them to add their vocal part? Or is it done 'live' in 'rea...

Thanks Ken and Brian for your comments. Ken .. I think what you have said in your music uploads must be catching! I listened to my upload of Crazy (several times) and just wasn't happy with the result! It wasn't quite how I had wanted it to sound. For starters, the intro was a bit 'choppy'. This was...

Re: I don`t want to talk about - 1975 - Rod Stewart -

Hi Brian, Like the double bass-beat at the beginning. Nice sounds throughout. I don't know why, but I reckon someone was 'eyeing me up' in the first half of the song. Then I saw 'stars', so not sure what happened. Except that I was 'eyed up' again at the end, and there seemed to be a girl involved. ...

Re: I've got you under my Skin

Ken, Love those 'soft' flute sounds at the beginning. Then a change of sounds as you progress through the piece. Maybe you thought one of the Registrations was a bit on the 'low' side so was sort of 'growling'? But the other 'higher' Registrations were very clear and pleasant to listen to. But I agr...

Ken .. what a delightful song, a real pleasure to listen to. Dave .. you have played this in a very 'romantic' style. Fits the bill perfectly. I hadn't noticed this in other years, but browsing through the Valentines cards so many of them had: " For/to my special wife ... ". Wasn't sure a...

Re: Solitary Journey by Wally Z

Hi Wally,

Enjoyed that. But what a sad song! And all minor chords just to add to the sadness. Thought for a minute you were going to end the song on a 'Tierce-de-Picardie' and play a 'major' chord, but I can see that you couldn't have done that in this song.

Julio Iglesias - Crazy.

The first time I heard this I was completely enthralled. Such a smooth backing .. and that piano. There is one chord he has changed, so the melody he sings (to fit the chord) is slightly different from the original by Patsy Cline. This is on feeling in the line, "I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so...

Re: When You Tell Me That You Love Me

Hi Terry, Nice strings on the AR! I like the changes you have done between the various voices, and the rhythm you have chosen is perfect for this song. Re: There Goes My First Love - Drifters - 1975 No 3 UK Hit

Brian, Going back to your video, I like how you've chosen video clips to suit the mood of the song. All those hearts ... but what a sad story! Then further on you have a couple of pictures 'superimposed one on the other'. It's very impressive to be able to do that. Don't think I can do anything like...

Re: All I could do was cry ...

Hi Torben, Once again you have done us proud! What a smooth backing you have given to this song. I suppose when you have a singer you can concentrate more on the backing 'arrangement' as you don't have to play the tune. Your friend certainly puts her own interpretation into the music and has one pre...

Re: BRIGHT EYES

Margaret, You have played that brilliantly! I like the way you bring the 'parts' of a Style in and out as you go along. Particularly with the 'bass'. Re: There Goes My First Love - Drifters - 1975 No 3 UK Hit

Hi Brian, At least the chords for this piece are fairly straightforward. And picking out a tune 'by ear' is a real talent to have. Even if you had got the melody from the music score, you would find that the song isn't quite the same as what you are listening to. There are always notes that are 'off...

Re: I can't stop loving you

John, You have played that piece just as I like to hear it. Piano playing the melody, and then a really sophisticated 'Tyros 5' saxophone. You are so lucky to have great voices like these to choose from on your Tyros 5. The Style backing was perfect, with a great bass PART. Peter Slack ( Peter S ) a...

Re: La Verbena De La Paloma

Ken,

The stereo comes out in this piece beautifully. There is a little 'squash box' on the left, strings playing the melody in the middle, and bits and bobs going on on the right. Very nicely put together.

You seem to have a passion for Spanish ladies. Sorry! Spanish music!

Re: Csardas

What always fascinates me about a piece like this is that when doing an 'arrangement' you do have to have in your head what it is you are trying to achieve. And then find the means to do it. Which is what you have done here.

Re: Pipes Of Peace

Nice sounding piece, Peter. I have an 'organ' and friends wonder why I use the 'automatics' when I have foot-pedals to play the bass part myself.
