Re: This time .. BONNERS

Brian, I would expect to see some spectacular performances with this keyboard from those who can suss out all the things it can do .. and bring these things into their music. As I said, there is no point having one and then just pressing a button and playing it. Maybe we shall get something on YouTu...

Re: This time .. BONNERS

Again, really impressed with this DEMO. Whatever keyboard you have, it's not just a case of pressing one button, putting the music up in front of you and playing it. if you are going to do that you may as well play a piano. The essence of a sophisticated keyboard like this is to have an idea in your...

Re: White Christmas

Brian, Now that brings back the memories. Living and being brought up in Kenya the last thing we ever had was a 'White Christmas'. My father didn't play a musical instrument at all but he did love listening to music, and his two favourites were Bing Crosby and Victor Silvester. I was 12 years old wh...

Re: Here-Comes-Santa.

Jon,

I second what Brian has said. A lovely 'bouncy' number and full of life. As to how much it will cost you? I think you would call this a 'blessing in disguise' as the more children, grandchildren and great grandchildren you have the more it will be. The more the merrier, I say!

Re: Once in Royal David's City

Hi Tony, It must be difficult to play something 'piano style'. All those 'moving notes' to fit in! But you have done this very effectively. Is this your own arrangement? Or are you 'reading the dots' from an arrangement you have found from somewhere. This carol doesn't usually sound as 'lively' as t...

Re: Stranger On The Shore

This is one I had found, played on a Tyros 3 by Poul Kristian, which I have already put up in Music Videos, here: http://tierce-de-picardie.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=314&t=5267 No 'backing parts' added. He just plays the piece 'straight', but I like the way he has played it. Here is the LINK again: ...

Re: Stranger On The Shore

Bronwyn and I have been to both the Theatre Royal in Bath and the Playhouse Theatre here in Weston-super-Mare to see Acker Bilk play 'live'. Of course everyone was expecting him to play Stranger On The Shore, which he did do, but played a 'jazzed up' version of it. Not the same at all, but I can und...

Stranger On The Shore

When I first heard this Acker Bilk play Stranger On The Shore in 1962 I rushed straight out and bought the 45pm record. I loved the sound Acker Bilk made with the 'fast vibrato' on his clarinet, the way he 'hesitated' as he played the tune, and the backing that just seemed to 'flow' as he played. Wi...

Brian, Now you have really confused me. Re: Sleighride

Hi Tony, I admire people who can multi-track and I always listen for those extra little bits that have been put into the music. We once had a keyboard player staying at our Hotel, and he used to play his keyboard for us in the Hotel Lounge, amplified through my Farfisa. He used to have a band of his...

Re: Carol of the Drum

Brian, 'Keeping the beat' must have been a nightmare. Glad you had the counter in your video, as one could plainly make out places where the phrasing ended/started on the third or second beat of the bar .. when one thought one should have been on the first beat of the bar. This is just the sort of t...

Hi Don,

It's nice to be able to sit in your Church and listen to your Christmas Medley with the choir singing heartily while you play. Anyway, that's what it feels like I am doing and it makes me feel really Christmassy.

Re: Ding Dong Merrily on High

A favourite with everyone, I think. Your video could very well be in 'Playing Tips' as one can see clearly how you do your 'trills' round notes, and run down the notes with your thumb. I'm sure you do these things without even thinking about it .. it just comes naturally. Hugh

Re: Martin Harris DEMO of the Genos

Watching this Demo it is clear to me that the whole idea of the Genos isn't to download all your Tyros 5 stuff onto it and just play it as if you still have a Tyros 5. There are new features there which one should use to make one's playing more creative and interesting. No point in having all this n...

Away In A Manger

Away In A Manger The standard melody in England is "Cradle Song", and the tune was written by the American composer William J. Kirkpatrick in 1895. For the first and last verses I have used two voices, a Pan Flute on the Upper for the melody, and an Orchestral Clarinet on the Lower playin...

Re: Actual Live Performances by real Genos users

Having watched the video above, all I can say is 'child's play'. It is 'child's play' to set the Style and Registration up, and a child could play it. Where is the musicianship in doing what he is doing? Surely the technology of the new Genos would enable the player to create something more spectacu...
