Re: White Christmas

Hi Brian,
It was all written out on the music, so no arranging on my part.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hugh,
I remember when I lived in Africa that there was a snow fall on the Drakensberg Mountains.
My next door neighbour drove all the way from Zululand with her family to see it.

Re: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

You have both really confused me, It sounds like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen to me. In fact I
looked out the music and followed along with Brian's version and it appeared to be note for note correct.
Same with Pentanonix, different presentation but the same tune. :?

Re: Comments about posting comments.

I normally try to listen to everything and comment. I consider the few people who post regularly as friends in music and so I like to offer a comment or two. I wish more people would post their music but as there are so few of us who do, I prefer at least to acknowledge their efforts. I personally e...

Re: Carol of the Drum

Thank you Brian, It would be easy to lose the timing of this piece so I put the emphasis on the pedals to try to highlight
the unusual phrasing and to keep the timing correct. Keep your eyes on the counter and you will see what I mean.

Ding Dong Merrily on High

I thought I would be first to post but Hugh beat me to it. :) I came across a floppy disc with organ settings by Tony Black and I thought they would sound quite nice for Christmas music so I looked out a Christmas song book and had a quick run through of Ding Dong Merrily On High. N0d9pZiKwxY

Re: Ever composed a piece of music ?

Hi Brian, Years ago, my hobby was writing songs but I usually used a guitar as I found strumming out a rhythym the most convenient way to do it. The most I do these days is to quickly write out a couple of verses for practicing blues in different keys. underneath, G blues and Bb blues. LbXoJMWzJ60 6...

Re: Spider

Hugh and Brian,
I think it is some kind of tarantula. They eat crickets and locusts.
My son says it won't need feeding for about another four months.
He used to keep snakes and they ate mice.
You buy them frozen which he used to call "mice-icles"

Re: Technics KN7000

Hi Ken, Very interesting article, auto accompianiment or not, it doesn't matter. Infact, most of our members play keyboards or play organs in a keyboard style. I sometimes like to use my Ringway's auto accompaniment but along with the pedals. I have heard a fair amount of the KN 7000 and I like it a...

Re: How to Transpose your music into another Key

A little more on your excellent post Peter. Of course you are perfectly correct when you state that Upper case = Major, and lower case =minor. FOR CONVENIENCE, I normally just type the numbers in upper case. I will try to clarify my reasons. In many tunes, not all chords are diatonic. If the chord i...

Re: Chord inversion-shapes

Hi Hugh, A good article, I do in the main go along with Andy's post but I think that you are right, you have to experiment to get the sound you want. There are no hard and fast rules. I think pop tunes generally are better with triads and dom 7 chords other than that, I normally play four note left ...

Re: How to Transpose your music into another Key

Hi Peter,
A very good opening contribution, very informative. :D :D
I can only think of two occasions when a tune doesn't end with the key chord.
1, Tierce-de-picardie, when the last chord played is a major chord when the tune is in a minor key.
2, Tango usually finishes with a Dom 7 chord.

Re: Technics GA3 Organ

Hi Peter, The GA 3 is a fantastic organ, just listen to John Bowdler on his. I find travelling very tiring these days and I look enviously at a lot of bargains on ebay. Most of them are just too far away. It costs around £400 to move one up from Southern England to Scotland. Not only that, I would w...

Re: Why can't I read music?

Hi Hugh, I saw Julian Bradley's video and although I like him, I avoided looking at this one. It takes years to learn to read music. Blackpool Tower Organist's Message

Back in 2015, I filmed a couple of tunes at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and posted them on You Tube. I just recieved a very blunt message from one of the organists. I had not seen any signs requesting not to video. I answered him back with a similar tone to the one he used to me. I did however writ...

I found this on English Idioms.
When the words, “Rabbit, Rabbit” are spoken to any person on the first of the month, for the rest of the month the speaker receives the luck of all who heard the phrase.

Re: Why are pieces played in one particular key?
