Re: MULTITRACKING using the AUDIO RECORDER

Hugh and I had discussed this way of two musicians collaborating as I used to be a bass player in a band, and Hugh had asked what I would have played as a bass part to his Michael Row The Boat Ashore . We had already decided that there was no point in trying to use a MIDI recording as Hugh has a Tyr...

Re: Jazz arranger Gerry Mulligan

You could always pick out the bones of the tune when he played and he never lost it in a finger gymnastic display as some of his contemporaries did. Great bassist, who is unknown to me, but a good walking bass style plus his soloing ability was something else. I remember trying to play Lullaby of Bi...

Re: Jazz arranger Gerry Mulligan

Sorry folks, but neither of these did much for me. BTW, Chet Baker (Jerry Mulligan quartet, trumpet,) has a wonderful singing voice which is very reminiscent of Mel Torment. Jazz without piano is a non starter for me. Imagine Oscar Peterson trio without a piano ! uPlU9xYmWKI One example of Oscar Pet...

Re: What would a real BASS player play when accompanying you

As we have already discussed this Hugh, I think it is only fair to state for the sake of the unbelievers that these notes are not written to be played by a bass player. These are the notes required to setup the Multipad function where everything is based on the scale of Cmaj7. I for one, cannot get ...

Re: What would a real BASS player play when accompanying you

Hugh, The bass notation below in the screen shot is incorrect. http://www.ar-group.org/Files/MichaelRowBASS2B.jpg The lowest note on the bass is E below middle C. So the notes in your demo should not be written as they are. This would seem to be a product of the Yamaha Tyros “ Score “ function. It o...

Re: What do THEY know about TALENT? Tony Stace & Andrew Nix.

The judges on this TV show are just a bunch of self opiniated, big headed celebrity naffs. However, I must side with their verdict. Those 2 organists did not shine mainly due to the choice of music they tried to perform. It was an outdated sound being played in a modern environment and organ sounds ...
