Breathe

I have a vocal harmoniser on my Korg's PA4 - It really is amazing. I rarely sing, but I was dying to have a go. So, I chose a number by Pink Floyd called 'Breathe' which has strong vocal harmonics, and I gave it a go...it's only short you'll be pleased to know. I managed to do the whole thing 'live'...

Re: What music are you listening to at the moment ? (2)

I’d never heard of a composer called Craig Armstrong until last week when I came across the following. Now I can’t stop playing his lovely unusual and atmospheric music - he has many You Tube recordings. Craig Armstrong - born in Scotland 1959, many of his recordings seem familiar, and that’s becaus...

Re: Korg Pa4X Professional Arranger

The only Downside is the PA4 has no built in speakers, so even though it is light and portable I can only take it on holiday with headphones or lots of speakers. The PA700 has its own speakers built in, which I believe are very good. I get round this problem by keeping my old Technics KN1600 permane...

Re: Korg Pa4X Professional Arranger

Hi Brian Yes, ver 2 made many significant improvements to the PA4. More styles, more voices, better OS, KAOSS, style converter improvements. A major update freely available to download from the KORG UK website. Further to this, we now have ver 2.1 available for download, AND 'OSIMO' (many great song...

Re: Korg PA4X

Well, I could give it a go if you like. There are of course varying degrees of success with style converter. A lot depends on the quality of the midi file. If you send the five midi files that you like to me prslack@ntlworld.com - then I’ll convert them for you. They will of course play on the PA4, ...

Re: Korg PA4X

Thanks Brian The PA4 is an incredible keyboard, especially since it has just received the latest Version 2 free upgrade from Korg. There is also a lot of free styles and files that Korg make available on their site for download. Great pricing, DNC voicing, weighted touch sensitive keys, superb sampl...

Re: Orla Grande Theatre Organ

Hi Ken Very pleased that you have resolved this. It's amazing really that despite all the clunkin n clicking, and other noises these older MDR make that they seem so reliable...maybe I shouldn't have said that! Why not post a recording on here to celebrate, there are not many recordings of this fine...

Re: Technics GA3 Organ

I did have a GA1 for a while, and thought it was lovely.

Because they are so affordable I upgraded to the bigger, more powerful GA3.

Here is a recording I made on my GA1 'Only Yesterday'.

Re: Orla Grande Theatre Organ

Hi Ken I'm afraid I don't know of any parts suppliers for Orla, other than the main dealers or Paul Carmen. If it was mine I would remove the floppy disk drive, note the serial no, and try to obtain a replacement through eBay, or maybe PC world. I have fitted one on an AR and it is fairly straightfo...

Re: Korg PA4X

Here is another Beatles song I recorded on PA4X, 'Free As A BIrd' The 'Style' on this was created by using the 'style creator' facility built into the PA4. Simply enter a midi file of your chosen song onto a USB memory stick, and one click on style creator will create a style in seconds, with 4 vari...

Re: Technics GA3 Organ

Brian, I take your point about it being nice to see the organ first. As well as being assured by an EBay seller that everything works ok, I always ask for a more detailed description, i.e. Are there any marks, scratches, dents etc. Also, Detailed photos of any damage can be very helpful. It is alway...

Re: Technics GA3 Organ

That does seem a little over priced Fred. I often see GA1's on EBay sell for under £200. Another good source is Preloved, and and Organ and Keyboard Cavalcade mags. The beauty of these and the GA3's is that they 'split' for transport by simply removing four screws, and then fit in most hatchbacks. W...

Re: Technics GA3 Organ

Hi Fred I don't do dealers usually, as they can be expensive. I am lucky that I have a large van available to use, and I enjoy seeing the bargains out there on eBay or preloved. I don't mind travelling if I can get a good price, as a tank of Diesel is only about £60 I can pretty much travel anywhere...

Technics KN1600 Keyboard.

Had this given to me when I bought my Technics GA3 Organ.
Having in the past had a KN5000 and KN6500 I knew what these great keyboards were capable of.

What a cracker. Lives permanently in my caravan for those times away when I miss playing.
Super sounds great little keyboard.

Technics U60

I couldn't resist buying this my most recent purchase. It's an oldie but goldie, and lives in my garden shed.
Same price to buy as a new shirt, but a loada more fun.

Re: New from Korg - PA1000 Arranger Keyboard

Hi Hugh and Brian Yes, it looks nice doesn't it. I believe it is priced around half the price of the PA4 which would mean somewhere around the £1500 mark. Reviews I've read suggest this is a great bit of powerful kit, which I'm sure it is. Much of the technology used is from the range topping PA4, w...

Crazy

The song 'Crazy' was a massive club and chart hit for a guy called Gnarls Barkley (not the Patsy Cline song) in 2006. It's a catchy tune, and a great modern dance record...I liked it straight away. The version here is much slower, and has a lovely Latin acoustic 'Bachata' style to it. I have a 'Bach...

Re: E.L.O.

ELO are one of my all time favourite groups, bettered in my opinion only by favourite group, The Beatles. I have always loved 'Telephone Line' but, find it very hard to play, as there are I think 3 or 4 sharps, and some tricky chords. If I go real slow it's not too bad, but it's one of those that yo...
