Re: What have you been doing during this coronavirus lockdow

Hi! I have been keeping up a tradition my late wife followed. On every first day of the month, and before noon, I say "rabbit". As I am on my own in lockdown this is a bit nutty. It take me back to my childhood when we pinched and punched each other while reciting "a pinch and a punch...

Re: Never Ending Story

That is a masterful video Hugh. I am still finding my way around PhotoStage so can't begin to emulate your standard. Also I marvel that you can remember all the tune in your head as you do not read music. Its a skill I envy.

Ave Maria

Having recently produced a video of my version of Schubert's Ave Maria, I thought I would post it for this Sunday. There are countless numbers of this hymn bearing the same title, by many obscure composers. I suppose Bach's one is the only other I know. Ken S. TBA0MpapOfU The MP3 can be downloaded f...

Thanks for that clear description of how to set up making a video. I have found another good site for pics.
Just google pexels. Had a few problems with some items disappearing but seems to have resolved itself.

Ode To Joy

Hi! With Sunday upon us again I thought to make a change I would submit a religious ode. Ode to Joy was composed by Beethoven as part of a major work. The Lyrics were written by Schiller in 1785. The music has been used,as anthems, by various countries and organisations over the years. Ken S. https:...

Re: Sight reading music

Hi!
I have uploaded to the religious page a hymn. In it I have made use of the expression pedal and stretched
the timeline to create some passion in it. I like to think this is an important part of performing which is
largely overlooked. Do members share my view? Ken S.

Nearer My God To Thee

Hi! Its nearly Sunday again so would like to give this old hymn an airing. Have used the Expression pedal and stretched the time line to create the atmosphere of pathos associated with this piece. Also added Andre Rieu's version for interest. Ken S. https://app.box.com/s/9zhn68taacqlfemptcxvmjr2gl1k...

Re: Sight reading music

Hi! I feel that subject of chords falls in the remit of this topic. I never did learn to recognise labelled chords, sticking to the traditional piano method. For me the chord symbol is a mathematical nightmare. Having the notes on a stave enable inversions, augmentations, etc to be freely displayed....

Re: Sight reading music

Hi! Den As a sight reader I am unable to think of a simpler way of informing a performer what to play. All we need to know is the name and position of 7 keys. A to G and their representation on a bit of paper. Then these are repeated across the entire keyboard by adding a number. ie middle C is usua...
