Anything Goes

Here is one of my own. I posted this on the challenge board a while ago. I was quite pleased with it but nobody commented on it. (Boo Hoo)

The Odd Couple

Eddie Smart with the theme from "The Odd Couple"
Eddie's playing is excellent and so is his arrangement. I could have chosen any one of his postings as all
of his music is meticulously arranged and played.

Re: Yamaha EL 70 Organ

Yes Hugh, he is a brilliant player. I do believe he previously had a stint
as one of the Blackpool Tower organists.

Re: Rocking around the Christmas tree

A very professional performance. These voices are exactly right for the style you play.
I think you achieved everything you wanted to, very well played and I enjoyed listening.

Re: O Come all ye Faithful (classic Style)

Hugh, I played the arrangement (give or take a few small changes) as written.
I will send you the music I played from. When you get it, have a look at the bassline.

Re: Winter Wonderland/Merry Xmas Everybody.hammond

Yes Hugh, I have a neighbour through the wall. I usually practice with headphones on and remove them when I am filming. The Hammond is the only instrument my wife sometimes asks me to turn down. The volume is set purely by the swell pedal and sometimes it is easy to inadvertently gradually Increase ...

Re: Calypso Carol

Hi Hugh, What can I say, except brilliant. I listened to it three times on the trot to try to get a handle on that syncopation. I think I would have to sit at the piano and play along to catch it. This is definitely the kind of thing that grabs my attention. In my opinion (for what it's worth) this ...

Re: Encouragement for Seniors

Hugh, I think by forgetting what you have associated the trigger to, means that you have not encoded the information sufficiently. I am the same as you, I forget things all the time but if I really want to remember something, I make strong connections which makes it much less likely that I will fail...

Re: Encouragement for Seniors

Yes Peter, you are spot on about creating pictures in our minds although I am told that, depending in which is our favoured "representational system," A visually oriented person makes pictures, an Auditory oriented person hears the sounds and a kinaesthetic oriented person feels the sensat...

Re: Encouragement for Seniors

Peter, I am glad you commented. I will add a bit more. I haven't played Tico Tico for about six months. I had done all of the above to learn it in the first place. It is two different arrangements that I combined together. One by Kenneth Baker and the other from an Ethel Smith book. I remembered mos...

Re: Encouragement for Seniors

I used to read a lot of Tony Buzan on how to master your memory. I think a lot of it has stayed with me. When I am memorising a piece of music I utilise every method I can to consolidate the music into my long term memory with the use of mnemonics. Mnemonic A mnemonic device, or memory device, is an...
