Re: It's all in the chords .. or is it?

Thanks Les. I was playing a couple of chord with a Foxtrot rhythm, one after the other and got really hooked on the sound. The chords were Gm7 followed by C7 (and repeated); and then C7 followed by Gm7 (and repeated). This is what these two chords sounded like played one after the other. Click the b...

Re: Music for Wolston Baptist, 3rd Jan 2021

Tony,

Loved that last Hymn. Now that's how an organ should sound. Your bass playing on the pedals came through perfectly. You also made good use of the different sounds you had set up on the two manuals. That's why you need two manuals when playing an organ!

Really enjoyed that.

Re: It's all in the chords .. or is it?

Another striking combination of harmony is when you mix Minor and Major in a song. Here's one played by Brian007. What makes this song is that walk-down with the changing chords. And then the change of key from minor to major. Have always really liked that one from The Kinks and you have certainly d...

Re: It's all in the chords .. or is it?

Thanks JT. Chords and harmony have always been my main love when listening to music. So 'blues' type music where the chords are just C, F and G have never held much interest for me. Here's an example of chords and harmony that is tops for me. Under the video the comments are: This is truly one of th...

Re: Free As A Bird

For those of you who are not familiar with this song, here is a bit of background to it. This song was composed and sung by John Lennon in 1977 but only recorded as a 'home DEMO'. Then many years later the tapes for it were 'discovered' and the Beatles got back together to record a new version of it...

Re: It's all in the chords .. or is it?

A simple chord progression that forms the basis of many 'pop' songs is C - Am - Dm - G7 . Of course you can play a chord progression in any key .. just 'transpose' the chords. Eg. In F it would be F - Dm - Gm - C7 . I have found Blue Moon played by Jacko ( jackoj ) on his Korg PA3X. Jacko says: When...

It's all in the chords .. or is it?

Chords in music are very much like paint used by artists. Yes, you could paint a picture just using the colours of the rainbow .. red. orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (?). But you know as well as I do that an artist will mix colours to get shades that blend well together and create a 'work of ar...

Re: Free As A Bird

Peter, Just love to hear you playing this song. It is full of 'dis-harmony' that keeps you on tenterhooks, and then it resolves itself. I gather that you got the STYLE for this from a MIDI FILE of this piece (ie. it is not one of the 'default' STYLES in your Korg)? Your Korg is one up on the Yamaha ...

Another comment about the Sennheiser headphones I have. Re: Last Of The Summer Wine

Margaret,

Coming from Kenya, this vision of England is what we had in the back of our minds every time we thought of 'Home'. As well as the other image .. England covered in snow at Christmas (why else would Bing Crosby have sung "I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas"?).

Beautiful Dreamer

I have played Beautiful Dreamer on my Tyros 4. This one won't be picked up with a 'Copyright claim' as I have completely changed the first few bars of the melody to something I felt had a more natural 'beat' to the song. Ken,

A very difficult piece to play. There is a lot going on and keeping up with it all is not easy. I expect that you, like me, listen to some of the pieces you played a while ago and wonder how ever you did it!
