Re: The World's Most Famous Unknown Band

This was from March 1990.
Chet Atkins presents "The World's Most Famous Unknown Band" in a salute to Ralph Emery, and that band is: Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Steve Wariner, Roy Clark, Ray Stevens, Ricky Skaggs, Lee Greenwood, Steve Gatlin, Barbara Mandrell, and Irlene Mandrell.

Re: 18 Songs That 'Rip Off' Other Hits

Brian, I don't think they would even bother with trying to say that their 12 bar blues was subject to Copyright! I am still wondering if these two groups ever came to blows. Particularly when not only is the tune the same (except for the extra bars on that high note in Una Paloma Blance) but the lit...

Re: "Free Play" .. playing without a fixed rhythm

Here's a piece played by JT (barwonfan) which shows the effectiveness of not having any rhythm/style playing for parts of the song. Those lovely 'rounded' harmonies really do have a dramatic effect.

Re: Changing rhythm backings in a piece

Now here's one which changes the backing to something completely different in the middle of the song. Listen to what happens at 0:52 .. a change of rhythm to emphasising every beat of the bar. When playing our keyboards we should always be prepared to look for alternative STYLES for songs like this ...

Re: Hymns/Songs for 25th October 2020

Tony, I just love the organ music you play, and particularly liked those last two. I'm not into 'pianos' playing in Church. I suppose having a piano is 'modern' and 'trendy', but give me a Church organ any day! Is the idea of the visor to wear something so that your glasses don't steam up? My wife B...

Re: Setting up/Changing the SPLIT POINT

In my post earlier I did say that you can have the STYLE, LEFT and RIGHT Split Points in three different places. In the set-up below, the keyboard has been split up into four distinct areas: STYLE; LEFT; R1 + R2; R3. http://www.ar-group.org/Files/Tyros4SplitPoint1.jpg Not sure how you would use the ...

Re: Using the LYRICS/TEXT button for showing WORDS & CHORDS

When sitting at the keyboard a couple of days ago I decided to play a song I had recorded a while ago .. Beautiful Dreamer . Re: An Experiment on the Korg Pa700

Hi James, I have downloaded your two WAV files and listened to them both one after the other, front to back and back to front .. but still cannot hear any difference between your two recordings. I know that you were probably using Pachelbel's Canon In D Major as an example for something to play, but...

Hi James, Still can't hear a difference, even though I now know what I am looking for. Sorry! As I said, I do notice a difference (a HUGE difference!) when adjusting the EQ when using the amplifier and speakers. But not when I am recording. I'll try what Den has suggested and see what happens. But E...

Re: Using the LYRICS/TEXT button for showing WORDS & CHORDS

Mike, Thanks for that. It was quite a challenge to put this up and try and make it easy to follow. As I 'play by ear' I don't have the sheet music for most of what I play, so if I want to play something I have played before I need to know, at the very least, what key I had played it in. So I plan on...

Next we need to get our NOTEPAD document up and running. So do that and get it up on the screen. Using the LYRICS/TEXT button for showing WORDS & CHORDS

If you can only play from 'reading the dots' then this is not for you. But for me, so long as I know the melody of a song and have the chords laid out in front of me then I can play it. I can usually make do with just having the chords, written out in 'bars' along a line. But having the written word...

Re: How to alter your styles quickly and easily

Brian, You're quite right, of course. We all buy keyboards for different reasons. As you say, the majority of people just want to sit down and play their keyboards with the on-board STYLES, and it is an achievement to succeed in playing one tune, and then another. And very satisfying. When playing i...

Re: How to alter your styles quickly and easily

Brian, I should think the three PARTS of my own that I 'program' most into AR STYLES (and of course have to do each one individually) are an arpeggio; a 'repeating piano' .. high up; .. and I quite often change the 'pattern' for the BASS PART. With the BASS pattern I often find it's not suitable for...

Right. We've done our recording and are happy with it. So now we have to find it. Making an AUDIO RECORDING You can do Recordings in MIDI or AUDIO, but here we'll take a look at AUDIO RECORDING . When you make an AUDIO RECORDING the file you get is a WAV file ( .WAV ). Re: What are you listening to Now ? (11)

Brian,

This just shows that it's not just the melodies that make a song worth listening to. It's who has played/sung it and the sound they made. Wouldn't listen to this orchestral version more than once (in fact, haven't even listened to it right through even once).
