Re: Getting SA2 Voices to 'slide' up to the note played.

Another enlightening article Hugh. I had noticed these 2 magic buttons, but never ever tried using them. Could be used to great effect depending on the tune being played.

I have come across the Jazz chord chart below which shows the make up of all the chords you could ever come across. They are based on C as the root. http://www.ar-group.org/Files/JazzChords700.jpg This can be viewed and downloaded as a PDF file. Click this LINK below. http://www.ar-group.org/Files/J...

Re: How to Normalize & Fade Out a recording using Audacity

Great pity Hugh that your tutorials were not around when I had just started doing my very early recordings. Would have made life much easier. However, I learned by trial and error. Just need now to try and make my recordings much more universally pleasing

Re: What do THEY know about TALENT? Tony Stace & Andrew Nix.

The judges on this TV show are just a bunch of self opiniated, big headed celebrity naffs. However, I must side with their verdict. Those 2 organists did not shine mainly due to the choice of music they tried to perform. It was an outdated sound being played in a modern environment and organ sounds ...

Re: Playing the "right" chords

Hi Den, My memory is unusable for playing music. In my younger days when I played in my rock band, we rehearsed new tunes using the standard sheet music, with the key transposed by me to suit the vocalist. All tunes in our repertoire were committed to memory very easily in those days. However, nowad...

Re: AUDIO.COM - a place for your music and linking it to For

Comment from JT ( barwonfan ) I'm wondering if there is some advantage in using Audio.com. I think Box.com is pretty good. Box is nothing but a commercial storage facility which is free to use at the moment. However, there are rumours circulating that this service will eventually have to be paid for...

Re: Playing the "right" chords

Firstly, I have to thank Hugh for posting the video of Thelonius Monk. He sounds even worse than I remember him. His performance brings back memories of Jimmy Durante who used to do a performance of a person looking for a lost chord on the piano. Not heard this for years. It appears to me that Thelo...

Playing the "right" chords

Hi Hugh Another master class but I find it completely overwhelming. I also disagree with your chord philosophy in that you play your own chords. If possible, I always play the chords as were written by the original arranger of the music I am playing. Wrong chords tend to show up when this has been d...

Re: How do you form your Chords?

So glad I do not have to search through charts, diagrams etc looking for info on what notes to put into a chord. 10 years of classical piano training and 8 years spent playing bass professionally and making my living by doing so taught me all I need to know about chords. Re: Setting up/Changing the SPLIT POINT

Hugh Heard the out of tune part straight away. Funnily enough I would suspect there are some who might not even notice. Re: Working out the harmony (chords) for a piece of music.

This formula will eventually give you an idea of which chord will fit the melody. However you will be restricted to simple chords in the form of I IV V with a relevant minor. It will not tell you if it needs a diminished chord, maj7 chord, a sus4 chord, a b5 chord , a 9th chord, 13th chord, etc, etc...

Digital sheet music to read from rather than 'paper' music.

Digital sheet music to read from rather than the 'paper' version. I use my iPad almost exclusively for displaying printed music sheets unless ...
