Lascio

Hi!
A lovely piece that may have been top of the pops in its day. Lascio Ch'io Pianga. It tells the story of how Riandos' lady was abducted and how she pined for him. I was inspired by a local choir's rendering of this. Beautiful. Ken S.

Re: 'Round Midnight.

That was super Bev. I always wanted a HX but had to put up with my EL90 at the time. There were just a few HX being played on the circuit. I seem to remember Brett Wales playing one. regards Ken S.

Re: The origins of our white and black notes.

I found that most interesting. It reminded me that many years ago, while working at Clevedon, I used to hear monks chanting in a large house just off the front. Never been able to find it since. Just up the road from you, Hugh. Ken S.

Re: Brian Sharp - Organist and Pianist.

Brian was one of the most enigmatic characters I ever met. I attended a festival at Sandford park where he gave one of his best performances. His first performance at Bristol was riotous. He disappeared during the interval and was eventually found in the local pub. He was certainly different. He wen...

Re: Playing the Harmonica

When doing army service in Germany I purchased a harmonica and paid 5 cigarettes for it. That was the currency of the day. Became quite good at it but not played it for many years. It is tucked away in a drawer as a memento of days long ago. I always thought the push rod on the end changed the key b...

St Patricks Day

I served my National service in an Irish tank regiment. The RSM was a cavalry fanatic and hated tanks. He was also full of bull so on St Pats Day he had us on parade with a sprig of shamrock attached to our berets. I thought I had put those not pleasant memories behind me. However they have returned...
