Before you lay out any money at the opticians, try this. Pop into your local pound shop and test a pair at a suitable distance. Then buy an extra pair, the next strength up. You'll see if this solves your problem for a couple of quid!
I've never had a problem with the 700 but the power supply on the PSR2000 was always extremely hot. I couldn't pick it up after use. I always laid it on a piece of wood and never left it unattended while live. This went on for four years before I sold it.
If a professional repair is too expensive try to get hold of a second hand pair of computer speakers. They will plug into the headphone socket. My son got some for a fiver and they're great!
