Yamaha Electone MC400

Saw this posted on my local Freecycle site yesterday. As it was only 2 miles away, I went to have a look. It was in a sheltered housing facility and the owner passed away recently. It was on the point of being dumped in a skip. It is in almost new condition but the thing that caught my attention wer...

Re: What music are you listening to at the moment ? (2)

New Year's Day sitting in front of an open fire listening to the Shadows Silver double album on vinyl recorded in 1983.
Some nice playing from bassist Alan Jones as well as Hank Marvin of course.

Re: Two Great Bass Players, both deceased.

Yes, both masters of their instrument.
Jack Bruce was a trained cellist and that is why he could do what he did on the Fretless bass. My Fretless bass playing was strained to say the least and now that my hands are shot, it has been lingering in its case.

Re: What music are you listening to at the moment ?

Thanks Hugh for posting the link' and Brian glad you liked Lester Young. I would have loved to try and replicate his sax on my Tyros. I now have severe rheumatoid arthritis in both hands and wrists so no longer can play keyboards or my bass with comfort. The end of a promising career :D Regards, Ron

Re: Not upgrading ? how about a sideways move maybe ?

Kong wins this comparison. Much cleaner sound than Yamaha.

Re: What music are you listening to at the moment ?

These days I listen to all my music on Spotify. One of my favourites is Lester Young with the Oscar Peterson Trio playing " There will never be another you". What a beautiful tone Lester has on the tenor sax. Don't play keyboards any more.

Re: T4 to NP-30 .. Midi

Hi Fred, These were the instructions that worked for me but as I did this several years ago my memory is a bit vague. Be assured that it does work very well. My 2nd keyboard is a NP11. My split point is set to provide the whole T3 keys for melody over the whole range while the lower keys are for cho...

Re: T4 to NP-30 .. Midi

I have my T3 midi connected to NP11. This works as 2 individual keyboards with the NP11 working as left hand chords/bass and T3 for melody right hand. I am sure their is "Twinset up" article somewhere on the forum's archives.

Re: Brilliant Bb jazz blues comping tutorial

Hi again Brian, I just noticed that sharing of My Jukebox ( old recordings) had been blocked. As new members will have been denied access to those early musical fumblings, I have changed to open sharing. Doubt if anything new will be forth coming as my arthritis has now spread to wrists and fingers....

Hi Brian & Hugh, Thanks for the kind thoughts. This was my first visit to the forum in ages and as I said I have not played keyboards or bass in ages. So, I cannot post anything new but will continue to visit from time to time. BTW, the Bb comping tutorial has created some fresh interest for me,...

Re: Brilliant Bb jazz blues comping tutorial

I really enjoyed that video being an old bass player. It got the juices flowing so much I was tempted to switch on the keyboards after not playing for 18 months. Maybe later .

Re: Windows 10

Windows 10 installed and no problems with it. You just have to move with the times.

Having said that, I still use Windows XP on my Ham Radio computer as it runs loads of software without problems. Updating the OS is not necessary on this PC.

Re: CVP-605 default pedal functions

Could this setting not be saved as part of a Registration? Only a quick fix but possibly you would not want to re-assign this pedal permanently.

Not a bad vocal Jim and well done for the technical guitar playing which will no doubt improve with more practice. I often wish that I had been given a singing voice :(

Re: How To Remember Your Repertoire: by David Ash (1990)

This must have been written for the younger age group whose memory still functions well. In my early R & R days I remembered all the music we played. Now, I am unable to play anything from memory and must read the music for my entire repertoire. Thanks to my early piano lessons, I can still sigh...

I feel we should resist the temptation to post replies on subjects like this. All it does is provide free advertising for the person we now dislike. My thoughts on this person have been previously made public
and it is pointless to air them again.

Re: Yamaha PSR-E243 & PSR-E343 Keyboard Demos at NAMM 2013

Disagree about being a sales gimmick but do amit some apps are not all that useful for day to day music performance. The IPad is having more and more support in the music industry and will no doubt be incorporated in the T5 which, according to my sources, will appear in 2014. Work is already ongoing...
