I totally agree with you about listening to music for inspiration and Ideas, as it is a great way to keep abreast of how other people that are probably more experienced in the music business than us are up to
Personally I think its down to the type of music your playing as to what voices you use and what atmosphere your trying to create, so while there are voices that work together well and some that do not its down to the music your playing

Hi James, That sounds very interesting, more especially as I too have a Korg but haven't tried multiple split points or velocity switching which sounds very interesting, just never seem to have the time to experiment that much and tend to only go deeper for a specific need . But you have certainly g...
Hi All, May be of some interest or use to some one, Download the full collection of 16,000+ sound effects from the BBC archives As you may imagine from a station that began near the end of Britain’s imperial era and continued to aspire to global news coverage, there is a huge diversity in the sound ...
That was a great performance of that number, I enjoyed listening to it very much, the voices and the style you used suited the tune perfectly and its a great tune as well,
Thanks for the update, most feedback problems are caused by proximity issues, basically the mike to close to speakers, mikes have improved a lot since I last used one back in the 60s and some are supposed to have feedback cancelling built into them
Hi Fred, It depends on the piece you're trying to play, I do tend to find a basic 8 beat can be a little to slow for a lot of the music I play even after I have upped the tempo, my advice would be to find out the Beats per minute ( BPM ) of the piece you want to play and set your 8 beat to that temp...

Such a shame that people have had their travel plans and christmas spoilt by the mindless act of what appears to be two people let's hope that the punishment fits the crime if at all possible
Hi ALL, Casting around for fresh new Ideas for themes for our Challenge section, so if you have any, now would be a good time to bring them out into the open. We try to keep the challenges as open ( not too specific ) as possible so that everyone can enter regardless of their playing abilities .. So...
I know you have some photos taken at the clubs Christmas Party and are trying to get them onto the forum, so here's one for a start, with thanks to Hugh for sorting it out,
Hi ALL, These are supposed to be for kids, but they say your never to old to learn, and I was surprised just how informative they are, as I mostly use an arranger keyboard or play along to something that has drums and accompaniment already recorded so I do tend to take it for granted , but these vid...
Each to their own, I was surprised at the price`s of Digital pianos, but I really do fancy a 61 note Modx will be writing my note out and sending them up the chimney tonight in hope
Hi ALL, With Christmas coming here's something to put on my list, This is something I think I would seriously consider a move to, lets see what Santa brings but at around £1,200 for the 81 note and £1,050 for 61 note, I won't hold my breath, but at around 1/3rd of the cost of a Genos ????? Hi Hugh, A interesting subject that you have started and one which highlights some of the good and bad things about auto accompaniment, while its great for a quick easy way to have something playing to accompany you, it does also have its limitations , well at least on arranger Keyboards not too sur...

Hi Jacko, That was a nice version of Somewhere, the style sound pretty good as did the voices you used also and you played it very well Must be honest the midi to style on my Korg is not something I have used a lot, and do try to use the onboard style, but it does have its uses and may be one day I ...
Good to see you using you using your new addition the Yamaha Reface YC as well as you Lowey Rialto, a lovely version of that classic Christmas Carol well played.
Hi Hugh, To be honest, I can read sheet music, but not fast enough to really play a piece straight off. I do find playing by ear just as easy and rewarding for most pieces I play, but as the stuff I play is what I would class normal run of the mill pop, if I was doing something more difficult I woul...
I find that if you do decide to change the feel of the song, then in theory you are creating a whole new arrangement/version of that song and really you have a clean sheet to start off with.
