Hymns/Songs for 14th March 2021

Hi Only one new recording this week - for various reasons time was short for planning for the minister, and I'm off for my diabetic retinopathy check this afternoon - so eye drops mean that I'll not be doing much! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this week's hymns/songs. First up is the new recording. Sever...

Re: Video Pad from NCH Software

Hi I've got a lot of 4:3 photographs on my computers, and I've used a few of them in clips in videos. I'm currently producing videos in 16:9 High Definition, so I have the problem of black bars - or even worse - the shot on the next timeline down remaining visible to left & right of the new imag...

Re: Hymns/Songs for 7th March 2021

Hi Thanks for the comments. Hugh - the last hymn was double-tracked. I recorded the piano part first, then added the organ part. I was going to use my Nord C2D for the organ part, but my arthritis intervened & I didn't feel up to moving the cameras, etc. Maybe next time! As it was I only just ma...

Hymns/Songs for 7th March 2021

Hi Here's this week's selection. Some technical problems this week - electrical interference at times, especially in the opening hymn. Made editing interesting trying to get rid of it! I also had problems with my arthritis which meant I had to just go with what I'd got, plus a simple organ part, in ...

Re: Nun danket alle Gott

I know the feeling Den. I'm hoping to feel up to adding a spare pedalboard (only 13 note) to the Viscount Cantorum - maybe later today.

Re: Hymns/Songs for 28th Feb 2021

Thanks Hugh & JohnT. I no longer need to use headphones when recording the organ. I had Jeremy Meager (Cotswold Organs) do some revoicing (He's generally acknowledged to be the expert in that field), and we added an additional amp & pair of speakers, which don't mute when the headphone outpu...

A chorale prelude by Johannes Brahms

Hi Brahms didn't write much organ music, but what he did write is pretty good. This piece is from a set of Chorale Preludes (pieces based on Lutheran hymn tunes of the day). If I remember correctly, this set of pieces was the last thing he wrote before his death. Enjoy Every Blessing Tony qoCECGtz4Sg

Hymns/Songs for 28th Feb 2021

Hi Hospital appointment later this morning, so I had to get this week's batch of music recorded & edited a bit earlier than usual. Here they are - all new recordings except "Jubilate, Everybody" which you may remember from a few weeks back. I've moved the piano into my music room where...

Re: Device for recording to MP3 without using a computer

The basic stereo digital audio recorders do just that. There are 2 microphones for simple acoustic recordings - assuming that what you're recording is balanced, etc. They also have line inputs that you can plug your keyboard, organ or whatever electronic source into.

Re: Device for recording to MP3 without using a computer

Hi

Admittedly a bit more expensive than your box, but there are several digital audio recorders by firms such as Zoom & Tascam. See, for example, https://www.studiospares.com/studio-gear/recorders-portable.htm

Re: Device for recording to MP3 without using a computer

Hi Pity this doesn't record WAV files - 128kbs MP3's aren't going to be the highest quality! Although a little more expensive, I'd go for a digital audio recorder with line level inputs and record to WAV. The "dual mono" spec here I guess indicates that there are 2 independent recording st...

Hymns/Songs for 21st Feb 2021

Hi Here's this week's music for our virtual service at Wolston Baptist. This being the first Sunday of Lent, I thought I'd start with some Bach - a Chorale Prelude on a German Lutheran chorale (hymn tune). I've played the tune first. The prelude itself takes the form of a Canon - the tune appearing ...

Re: Fancy entering a competition ?

Hi

I saw that yesterday on the web. I doubt that I'll enter - I've got more than enough to do with recoding for church plus sorting things out at home & moving things around so I can get all (or at least most) of my keyboards set up.

Re: Hymns for Sunday 14th Feb 2021

Thanks for the positive feedback.

JohnT - Love Divine, to Blaenwern, was also one of the hymns at our wedding on 12th July 1969 - so also 50+ years.

Re: Hymns for Sunday 14th Feb 2021

Thanks Ken

Reminders of those who have died are always problematical. My wife died at the end of November 2019, and the anniversary of that, followed 9 days later by her birthday, & then Christmas wasn't an easy time. Glad that my music has helped you.

Re: Music at Wolston, 7th Feb 2021

Thanks John Glad you enjoyed the pieces. It's snowing he...

Music at Wolston, 7th Feb 2021

Hi Got Neil's choices early, so managed to get everything finished today. First up is a worship song from a good few years ago. p6mr2p9sxSc Next is a hymn that I first heard as a youngster. Neil (our minister) wanted updated words, but since I'm not a great fan of that, I put together 2 versions, on...

Music at Wolston - 31/01/2021

Hi It's that time of the week again. Here's this week's selection. The second song is from my archives, the remainder are new recordings - including an organ & piano duet. (There would have been 2, but "finger trouble" with the multitrack audio recorder meant that I managed to overwrit...

Re: Covid Vaccination

Hi I guess I'll have this "fun" before long - I'm clinically vulnerable, so should be in the same batch as over 70's for the inoculation (I'm only 69!). As to Government forms, I agree - they're often a nightmare. Having recently been diagnosed with Diabetes, I've had to sort out my drivin...

Music at Wolston - 24th Jan 2021

Hi Here's this week's selection. 2 of these (plus the bonus track) are my suggestions. We start with a hymn of praise, played as usual on my Viscount Envoy 35FV digital organ. The fancy arrangement for the last verse is by Harrison Oxley. PlYmpg4Z3Zw Next up is an old hymn but a relatively modern tu...

The Ultimate home organ in 1910

Hi In response to a discussion on a Facebook group, I've dug out some recordings I made on a Gregorian reed organ about 15 years ago. This instrument has 2 manuals & pedals, and uses resonating tubes to modify the sound of the reeds. Sorry, no pictures, just audio on this You Tube presentation. ...
