Depends on your definition of 'very hot' but, yes, they do run rather warm.
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Do you have it plugged straight into an outlet? Is it laying on carpet? Can you touch it? Is just the power supply getting hot or is the cord getting hot?
Don't use long extension cords. They will usually fail before they flame. Is it giving off a burnt smell? Do you have it plugged into a power strip that is fuse protected? Check the output voltage. If you're in doubt get a new one.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Okay! After playing my PSR S910 for about 2 hours I felt the AC Adapter/Power Supply and it was fairly warm. Not hot. I'm just guessing but I would say it was about 110-120 deg. F. It would definitely make a good hand warmer. Mine is a model PA 300c which is one of the newer ones.
I have read on another forum the the 900 series did have some problems with the power supplies. Supposedly that has been remedied.

Hi Wally

I've never had a problem with the 700 but the power supply on the PSR2000 was always extremely hot. I couldn't pick it up after use. I always laid it on a piece of wood and never left it unattended while live. This went on for four years before I sold it.
