Bandwidth Problems - Absolute Tosh!

Postby Mike Bracchi » 19 Mar 2013 13:20

I have just visited another forum and read an absolute blinder of a topic/post ... my goodness, talk about leading people up the garden path

I'm embarrassed to have ever been associated with that site

Guy's .... seriously - get a grip ... wake up and smell the coffee !!!

Hmmmmm, I was taught to be cautious Wally, and no matter how you look at it - it just doesn't ring true.

You could say 'it's none of my business' and you may arguably be right, but as a co-founder/owner of the original site, I do feel a moral obligation towards it's members (many who are now my friends) to speak out if I see something that is not what it seems ... and that topic is absolute nonsense.

I'm curious because I don't know who or what you're referring to. Speaking out about something that's wrong is a good thing. I'm just wondering If I'm one of those being lead up the garden path. Email?

That's okay Mike. I guess it's really not all the important, and we don't need any drama like they have on other forums.

Quite right Wally, perish the thought of it happening on this site!

Me too

I don't think it's an exclusive club Ron, there was 530 members on that site when I left this time last year, admittedly, a lot of dead-wood and non-posters, but to loose, delete or ban over 450 of them is imprudent and lacks forethought

All forums have members that don't post even the best. We all have core members and that is what keeps us going.Take a certain forum with 1600 odd.Only about twenty post regular or pop on when something interests them. This I think is the norm.

I was just banned from a forum for no reason at all, so I guess I now know which one you're talking about now. Very strange! And I was a paying customer. Would be nice if they would at least have the courtesy to email me with a reason. I've been a good and contributing member of that forum since last year. Maybe they don't like Americans. Oh well! Life goes on. :D

Hi

I have been banned too, now...

You can see at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/fora.htm which forum I have been banned from...

Looks like some kind of "group suicide"... strange...

No reason whatsoever...

What's funny is that I go by a different name on that forum. I wonder how he knew he had the correct Wally.
Perhaps he's banning everyone that is on this forum and on that one too. What a shame.

He banned you! Wow! he must really be losing it. After all you've done, and contributed to his forum. Hope he's okay. I never had any real issues with that forum. There were a bunch of nice folks on it. Many are on this forum as well. Only time will tell.

Hi All

I was initially curious as to what Mike was saying but now I'm totally lost.

Are we talking about ONE sight here or two or are people reading Mike's message incorrectly.

RE: Being banned from a particular site, could it just be that you have been removed from the list because you have not posted for some time. A few sites are automatically doing this these days.

Jorgen, I think maybe he has seen the error of his ways. At least in your case. Here's what it says when I go to the forum, which I have been participating on almost everyday for about a year.

"Sorry Wally Z, you are banned from using this forum!
This ban is not set to expire."

No reason why, no email, no nothing. I went to the forum yesterday morning and everything was fine. Went back a couple of hours later and got the banned message.

That's the truth Wally, seeing a line struck through the CraftyMusic Forum name on Jørgen's website - he most likely decided to back-track on his actions - another game he plays extremely well!

It will be the sympathy call next - you watch

I might be sympathetic if I new why I was Banned. Too much drama for me already. It's just curiosity for the most part. I'm sure if it happened to him he would want to know why. Not going to lose any sleep over it, that's for sure. Okay, back to having fun. :D

Re: Bandwidth Problems - Absolute Tosh!

Postby Ron » 25 Mar 2013 12:01

I had decided not to further expand on this thread but here is my parting shot on the matter.

I was banned for ever after I sent him a PM in which I stated that his banning members for not posting on the forum was a thoughtless action. I must say that some of my other comments were a bit more pointed. Regretfully, I never posted those comments on the forum. However, the grass is certainly greener on the other side of the fence with alternative forums.

This taught me a lesson to keep most of my thoughts to myself on this and other forums and avoid any more back stabbing!

For things like this most forums will give you a warning first, asking you to kindly refrain from whatever it was. Ron, banning you for what was said in a PM is ridiculous. Private messages are just that, private. Of course now you've made it public. He really seems like a nice guy, but he obviously has some emotional problems he needs to deal with. I hope he does, because it really isn't healthy. I sincerely wish him the best, and that's all I have to say on the matter.
