The Prince & Princess of Hammond-Suzuki

Postby Mike Bracchi » 02 Mar 2014 22:14

Well I thought I had seen all the 'junior' keyboards from the major manufacturers ... but this is a new one on me, yet it's been around for several years apparently :o ... Meet the Prince & Princess of Hammond Suzuki ... the Hammond HEK-2 and HEK-3 ... Hammond Ensemble Keyboards.

There is a complete range of accessories for these little beauties, volume pedals, stands, cases, chargers and battery packs and software music books galore ... you can even connect to a Leslie cabinet as it has a dedicated output for one.
An extensive search on the 'intra-web' revealed no further information ... although I have managed to find a short demo song which I have put together with several more pictures in the video further down.

I am really curious to know if they have got those drawbars hooked up to the traditional Hammond sound ... certainly not apparent from the demo tune although, it does kind of imply they have as according to the specifications both keyboards have 'key-click' ... anyway, here are the specifications for both models.

Oddly enough the HEK-3 is quite a few thousand Yen less expensive than the HEK-2 despite the spec' being marginally better ... Interesting little instruments ... Tyros 5 ... watch your back

We found these little critters a few years back on Organ Forum. I'd clean forgotten about them.

At nearly £600 back then, I don't think there would be much of market outside of the one for ' we already have everything else' Japanese kids!
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
