portable keyboard stool

Postby Brian007 » 13 Aug 2014 08:53

Hi all

Thinking about buying a portable keyboard stool, using an old computer chair for home use but really need to get something I can take with me on my travels.

Anyone have any recommendations for brand or type, needs to take in excess of 80kg  and fold flat to go in the car and have some decent padding for my Bonney bum :?:

Hi

The folding X-style stools are probably the most portable - I've had one for years. Can't remember who made it - or even where I bought it now. Try the various retailer's web sites - Promenade Music in Morecambe are pretty good in my experience. Just be aware that not all X-type stools actually fold! I bought one with deep padding last year, the pivot point of the X can be altered to give different heights, but it doesn't really fold (and the padding split quite quickly as well) - that was not bought from Promenade BTW but Dawsons in Huddersfield - a bit of an impulse buy.

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply, some things to look out for them.
Probably get myself along to Windows in the metro centre and see what they have on offer

You might try looking at drummers' stools or 'thrones' as they're often called.

They usually need to be dismantled for travelling and, I dare say, are built to take a pounding! ;)

Konig and Meyer usually have a wide range of offerings of many things and you might be able to get one direct from Amazon. Although K&M are expensive. I use a mic stand and music stand from them and they certainly are quality products.

Another thought, take a look at the quik lok D/749. I know a couple of other roaming keyboard players who use it.
(Now which forum was that?) ;)
You might want to add some extra padding though, I think they both do.

Just a thought!
