HI, Mike,

Interesting post, but hasn't everyone else re-invented it?

Yamaha did it recently with the CVP609. Didn't improve it just gave it a pig of an operating system. Wish I hadn't fallen for the hype and traded in my 405 which to my duff ears sounded just the same.

Sadly with the demo of this latest re-invention those same duff ears can only hear a lot of electronic tinkling noise masking a tinny top end and a dull bass reminiscent of an 80's electric grand.

From a practical point of view I wonder why we need new sounds all the time. Whenever I move from one instrument to another old to new or new to old I soon accustom my ears to the sound and play just as badly as before!

Must get some anti cynicism pills or maybe Papadeedee's got a cure!!

regards

Greetings Alan,

Tut tut Alan, the first thing you have to do is be very careful what you tell yourself, your unconscious mind has a habit of taking you literally and carrying out your instructions. I can think of no better way to achieve duff ears than to keep telling yourself you have them. You can say this a few times a day , " I am continuing to train my ears and improve my musical ability "
Wishing you all the best,

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the advice. Have been repeating the mantra and can already identify some improvement --- not in my musical ability which I am sure will follow but I can now clearly hear people saying 'Look at that silly @@@@ waggling his left ear.'

Seriously I think positivity is the answer to many perceived failings of old age and I am grateful to be reminded of it.

regards

Alan.
