Brian Auger Live "YES"

Postby papadeedee » 22 Aug 2015 19:16

I'm really pleased today as I have just bought tickets to see Brian Auger . He often plays in Germany and USA but not so often in Britain and I thought my chances of seeing him were slim but was very pleasantly surprised to get an e-mail informing me that he is coming to Glasgow in November.

I'm a big fan of Brian Auger. I have 2 DVDs of his. One is a concert played in a small venue on his 65th Birthday entitled "Brian Auger's Oblivion Express - Live at the Baked Potato" with Brian on B3 and piano, his son Karma on drums, his daughter Savannah Grace on vocals and an unrelated but superb bass player. Well worth buying!!

The other is a 2 hour tuition DVD where Brian is interviewed by some keyboard player about his style etc and Brian demonstrates and explains his playing techniques. Although very useful for its intended use as a tuition DVD, it is also very entertaining just to sit and watch. It's very informal. Filmed in Brian's house I think, but good quality filming with excellent overhead close ups of the keyboards. This one if called " Brian Auger - Hammond B3 Master

You can also get a CD of the "Baked Potato" concert!

Hi Fred. You can get the Baked Potato DVD and CD from Amazon. They also sometimes have the B3 Master one but not at the moment. It is available to order from music room.com or is usually available on eBay. I've just found out he's in Manchester on 3rd November, which isn't far from me, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it. Shame if I can't as he doesn't do many dates in the UK. Mainly Germany and USA (where he lives). Apparently he owns 2 B3s and leaves one in Germany for his European dates

That should be a great evening Brian :D

I was a big Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger fan in the late 60's but over the years I sort of lost touch with what he was up to ... an awesome organist for sure.
I remember Driscoll & Auger's take on 'light my fire' and 'let the sunshine in' ... I wore the record thin listening to them - marvelous stuff it was 8)

All the best,

Mike

Greetings Michael R,
Brian Auger is the organist I most want to see, I frequently watch Oblivion Express on You Tube, he also did some great stuff ages ago with Eric Burdon.

Hi Mike,
I remember the beautiful Julie Driscoll well, she is still around under the name of Julie Tippetts, her material is most definitely not for me.
https://youtu.be/PBFan0Hva9Q :?: :?: :?:
I haven't been able to embed this video as it says it can only been viewed on You Tube. Maybe you can sort it out or delete it if you want but before you do, I thought you might like to hear what she is up to these days, I repeat, MOST DEFINITELY NOT MY CUP OF TEA.
Cheers,
