Hammond XM-1 and Hammond XM1-C Organ MODULE.

Postby papadeedee » 09 Apr 2016 16:02

On a previous post, I was swithering whether to trade in my Orla Ringway or add to it. I have decided to keep it.
I will use it with virtual software plus I have also just bought from ebay, a Hammond XM-1 and Hammond XM1-C Organ MODULE.
Below is a little demo. Sounds good to me,
I hope I can set it up, I have seen one post saying he can't get his swell pedal to work and another saying he can't get his bass pedals to work
but I have seen videos of it working properly on an organ.
I may be asking for assistance should I encounter problems when I get it.

Main issue - as it is with all things MIDI, including any virtual organs - is getting MIDI channels to match.

The usual defaults should be: Upper-1, Lower-2, Pedals - 3 and Solo/Keysplit Lower - 4. Things like CC11, expression data usually sent from the volume pedal, sometimes needs to be on channel 1, sometimes on channel 16.

The XM1 was a good sounding module in its day, I had one here for a while on long term test. I rather liked it. But you might find that the later virtual Hammonds, like VB3, actually do a better sound. Mind you, you have those real pushy-pully things on the XM1C, which is a lot easier than sliding them on screen.

If you have problems, just shout!
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Hi

Good luck with this - it looks interesting. I definitely prefer real drawbars for Hammond control - but then, I've been known to adjust them whilst playing to get certain effects.

Every Blessing

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the offer to help, I am dreading trying to set it up. I never seem to get any midi stuff to work properly without experiencing an awful lot of grief in the process.
I have a feeling that I will be getting back to you on this at some point.
Cheers,
Brian.
