I found this on English Idioms.
When the words, “Rabbit, Rabbit” are spoken to any person on the first of the month, for the rest of the month the speaker receives the luck of all who heard the phrase.

I managed to say "rabbit, rabbit" before 12 noon, but was talking to myself, so I was the only person who heard it. So I should now receive all my own luck for the rest of the month. Or doesn't this count? Hugh
