Hi Mike, It doesn't sound much different to Tyros 4 to me. I am going to a demonstration at Romford next week... Pam

Well, after listening to that lot I can safely say that the Tyros 5 ....
is going to be the 'must have keyboard' for the foreseeable future
Awesome ... right, now where did I leave my water pistol and balaclava, and, what was that bank's address

Nice to see you back Pam Yes, I think you'll notice it more when you're listening to it live at Romford ... there are a lot of great features on the new model, I'm sure it will be a real winner for Yamaha.
Take care Pam, all the best and I hope you enjoy your trip to Romford

Hi mike
May thanks for the Video's. I know they are available every where now but the above set is far easier to work through.
So far I like it but cannot say that I'm blown away.

From the Yamaha website demos: here are my observations
Audio Styles
OK but no Audya or good Midi style beater, plus with a limited number on-board a bit of a waste of space.
DSP
WOW Yamaha has really come on in leaps and bounds in this department, and while not up to pro level other arranger manufactures will have to up there game pretty sharpish to compete.
Ensemble Voices
What a disappointment, as there is nothing in them that hasn’t been available on other keyboards for ages. (I was really expecting something special in this department)
Organs
Pipe: Lacks the majesty required for a good pipe organ sample Euro: nothing like any Euro organ I have ever heard Home: I think it is supposed to be a Lowrey but not sure on this one Theatre: has the makings of a good sound but needs a lot more work at present Vintage: if I knew what it was supposed to be I might be able to comment, but boy does it need some work
Overall not bad, but nothing particularly ground breaking (Except possibly the DSP) however the 76 note option is a positive move, but as neither appears to have a touch screen (you could still keep the buttons) this omission is quite frankly diabolical in this day and age.
Still plenty more demos to come no doubt so there is still time to impress, plus I never make a final judgement until I have tried it myself.

I like it very much, i will need to start buttering the missus up so I can get one for christmas the guitars are extremly realistic with the new dsp's and i think the strings and organs are better than the previous tyros models.

Hi
Just booked to go to the launch presentation at Promenade Music. Until we've actually heard the thing for real - not just a few short video demos - there's no real way to judge (and an extended playing session would be better still).
Incidentally, not all classical (pipe) organ music needs a "majestic" sound. As an organist, I usually find the so-called "pipe organ" sound on most keyboards is poor - and no single sound (or even half a dozen different sounds) can give the variety of the real thing.
