Jealous

Postby ken horton » 03 Feb 2018 21:28

Set to a German March which I don't suppose was intended because the lyrics start " I'm Jealous of the moon that shines above because he smiles on the one I love" So apologies to the composer and lyricist, but I like experimenting a little and this seems to fit quite well , but never heard how it was originally intended. Hi Ken Not one I am familiar with, sounded okay. Yes it would be good to find out about the original. However I suppose that is what music is all about. Everyone is different. Difficult to keep track of listening to all the posts and respond. John

Hi Ken,

Like John, not a tune I am familiar with, the style you used was certainly bright and breezy
and made an interesting piece to listen to, good choice of voices and well played

Ken,

This recording has come out so well! And you have really shown off your skills as an organist.

I thought I would do a little research into this song and see what I could find. Funny what you do find when you start looking. There is this one called Jealous by Labrinth.
I'm jealous of the nights
That I don't spend with you
I'm wondering who
You lay next to ...

Don't think it's that one.

Found it! The song that starts with:
I'm jealous of the moon that shines above
Because it smiles upon the one I love
I'm jealous of the birdies in the trees
They're always singing sweetest melodies

I'm jealous of the pretty flowers too
I miss the kiss they always get from you ...

.. was by The Andrews Sisters, and it came out in 1941 (that was the year before I was born). Definitely not a German March!

Well done Hugh full marks, I never got that far because I am still trying to discover the music for Addios Donna Grazia ( which I first thought was Addios Muchachos ! ) The annoying thing is I must have the music somewhere otherwise I could not have played it ! and thanks for your remarks on the performance of Jealous I am very flattered, and it was very unexpected , I was born 10 years before that recording came out but I didn't take much notice of the hit parade at the time !
