By The Light Of The Silvery Moon

Postby VAL7JEAN » 30 Sep 2018 22:50

Track 27 from my CD. "By The Light of the Silvery Moon" was written by Gus Edwards, and the lyrics by Edward Madden.
The song was published in 1909 and first performed on stage by Lillian Lorraine in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1909.

Hi Val. Always liked this one and not disappointed with your version. A good singalong and foot tapper. Liked the choice of style and sounds. Whilst I was listening with the headphones on I could hear my wife whistling a tune and coincidentally it was this one. She was unaware of me listening to yours. Spooky. John

John .. that is spooky! Is this what you call Extrasensory Perception?
From Wikipedia:
Extrasensory perception or ESP, also called sixth sense or second sight, includes claimed reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses, but sensed with the mind. The term was adopted by Duke University psychologist J. B.

Val .. this is one of my favourites too, and I enjoyed listening to your version of it.

Below is a YouTube clip with Doris Day and Gordon MacRae singing it (1953). They are accompanied by a 'Pianola' and you can see the 'roll' going through it at the beginning of the clip. I had an Uncle and Aunt who had a 'Pianola' and they had about 30 rolls. As a lad I used to love watching and listening to it play .. particularly as the keys went up and down!

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That give me a good grounding. Cheers.
