Hallelujah

Postby MARGARETD » 12 Oct 2018 19:59

HALLELUJAH
Written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohan.
Following his original 1984 album version, Cohen performed the song again, on his world tour in 1985.

I had never heard of Cohen until my introduction to the HALLELUJAH tune, used in the film :"Shrek", and I thought it was beautiful.
Not too long before his death in 2016 Cohen came to New Zealand to perform and I believe the theatre was filled to capacity.

Apparently Cohen would often alter the lyrics, going over and over his words, until satisfied.
I decided to use an arpeggio throughout my performance, hoping it would sound okay.

Hi Margaret,

That was a very nice version of that song, you made good use of the arpeggio on the track and the voices and the way you played it was spot on,

All the best, Brina007

Hi Margaret,

Yes, that arpeggio certainly went very well with the tune. Interesting that you changed the 'voice' allocated to the arpeggio. I enjoyed your 'choir' too.

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That give me a good grounding. Cheers.

The one I know is with words by Leo Robin & Clifford Grey and music by Vincent Youmans from the year 1927.
