Trying to help a club member who has partly lost the use of his left hand. I use the all fingers cord method so I am not sure of the single finger. So if someone has a single finger chord chart that they would like to share we would be most grateful.

Hi Bill when set to single fingered you just play the note of the key. C and for a 7th you play C and B together and for a Minor you play C and Bb together. If it were F you would play 7th as F and E together and for Minor play F and Eb together. It is the same with all keys.

My Yamaha Manual has this to say about Single Finger Mode Chords:

Major chords:
Press the root note of the chord.

Minor chords:
Press the root note together with
any black key to the left of it.

7th chords:
Press the root note together with
any white key to the left of it.

Minor 7th chords:
Press the root note together with
any white and black key
to the left of it (three keys altogether).

These are the only chords you can play in this Mode, but despite it's limitations you can get some really good 'Performances' when you play this way. Here is Amazing Grace played with 'Single Finger Chords' on the AR.

Don't equate using 'single finger chords' with 'playing using just C, F and G'. The secret is to introduce other 'minor' chords to create interest. And before dismissing 'single finger chords' out of hand as being too 'basic', just consider the following:

You can play in any key quite easily, as for example, if you were to play something in the key of C# you wouldn't have to work out which notes are 'sharps' in the chord you want to play. You just play the 'root note'.
