Musicmakers club band night 19/1

Postby JohnT » 20 Jan 2015 11:45

Hi Everyone Just an update re the above for those who were unable to attend. There were eight members present and five keyboards. Thanks to Harry,Olive,George,Jeff and John for bringing them. Special thanks to Harry our band leader who selected a varied selection of tunes to play. We seemed to be playing a lot better and from a personal point of view the band night has certainly made me play better.( i THINK) I give a few details of what we played.
Quickstep medley Mountain Greenery, Some body loves me, Just one of those things.
Waltz medley Alice blue gown, Around the world, let bygones be bygones, Paradise.
Foxtrot medley This cant be love, The lady is a tramp, Happy talk.
Bossa medley See you in my dreams. Dreams, Dream a little dream
Tango medley Serenade in the night, Play Gypsy and Play to me gypsy.
There were many more and the evenings playing lasted two hours plus non stop, with only a very short break.
The next night is Monday 2/2/2015 and the theme is Ballads or if you cant play them anything will do just come along and enjoy yourself.
I will take my Tyros 4 as Michael is going to give me a few tips. So see you all there. John

Hi all
Yes a very good night. It was an eye opener to me, when I was following Harry our leader ,playing Bossa,I realised that my timing was all wrong, it sounds much better the way Harry plays it,(properly)

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That gave me a good grounding. Cheers.
