Well, Brian, by asking this question you are getting to the core of what our musical tastes really are. This is one of my favourites. I suppose you would call it swing ? I just love the harmony, and the jazzy piano and clarinet parts. Great bass too.

Bananaphone

I think I am a hopeless case!

I have always liked instrumental numbers numbers and though the Shadows were great and
moving on when portable organs became more popular Tom Parker started to do a few instrumentals
and even a good version of this classical one

I think my all time favourite is Gilbert O'Sullivan. I just loved the haunting sound of his voice, and the harmony of the songs he composed.

00:00 01. Nothing Rhymed
03:22 02. Underneath The Blanket Go
06:29 03. Too much attention
09:03 04. Matrimony
12:21 05. No Matter How I Try
15:23 06. Alone Again (Naturally)
19:05 07. Ooh-Wakka-Doo-Wakka-Day
21:53 08. Clair
24:55 09. Who Was It?
27:24 10. Out Of The Question
30:23 11. Get Down
33:05 12. A Very Extraordinary Sort Of Girl
35:22 13. Ooh Baby
38:37 14. Why, Oh Why, Oh Why
42:30 15. Happiness Is You and Me
45:39 16. A Woman's Place
48:55 17. Christmas Song
51:43 18. I Don't Love You But I Think I Like You
54:55 19. You Got Me Going
57:38 20. What's In A Kiss?

I have already put up my version of Clair. It's here:

viewtopic.php?f=232&t=4223&start=35#p31499

I didn't have any sheet music to get the chords from so had to work them out for myself.

Hi Hugh,

Apollo is how I like my classical music ( popular )

Gilbert Osullivan, has a great voice and is a good song writer too and I liked a lot of his stuff back in the day
Lives in Australia apparently, I just Listened to your version and thought it was very good.

For chords you should look on google loads of sites with chords for most popular songs

As I spend a lot of time confined to bed due to ill health and because the TV stinks, I listen to a lot of music as well as
audio books on YouTube.
I have recently revived my interest in The Impressions and the Early Beatles but I have decided to
post this one because he won The Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016. It really evokes visions of my youth.
This bootleg album may well be taken down soon by You Tube.

Brian D,

Thanks for posting the clip of Gilbert O'Sullivan in Hyde Park. There's nothing like watching a 'live' performance .. and I have never seen Gilbert O'Sullivan 'live' before. This clip is on Gilbert O'Sullivan's own website too.

http://www.gilbertosullivan.net/

Your 'bootleg' Bob Dylan clip has had nearly 54,000 views so with any luck they won't take it down now. YouTube seem to be OK with 'live' concerts as opposed to tracks taken from official recordings the artistes have done.

While in my mid twenties I worked for a company that got a contract for work down in London, so every monday morning the two of us would set off in a Transit van
to London and would do our work and sleep in the van to save our lodging money, so by a friday we were ready for home, and this was a song that we always played
once we were on the M1 and heading home, and being good Geordies we loved being back home. The video is also set in Newcastle.

Brian,
Lindisfarne were one of my favourite groups, real quality. I loved Alan Hull. Run for home is brilliant. My very favourite Lindisfarne song is
the beautiful "Winters Song" Another of my favourite singer/songwriters was Scottish singer Rab Noakes who had very close
ties with Lindisfarne. Here he is performing one of his songs with Lindisfarne. (They also recorded it on" Fog on the Tyne" with Alan Hull singing it)

From one of the few remaining super groups that have made it through the years after a shaky start and a fair few internal problems

"Don't Stop"
is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, written by vocalist and keyboard player Christine McVie. Sung by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and McVie, it was a single taken from the band's 1977 hit album, Rumours. It is one of the band's most enduring hits, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard singles chart. In the UK market, "Don't Stop" followed "Go Your Own Way" as the second single from Rumours and peaked at No. 32. In the US, it was the third single released, and peaked at No. 3 in October 1977.
