Hi ALL,
A new topic and a new chance for you to share the music you like by posting a link to your favorite artists or genre
Not many will like this one but here goes The Jam A Town Called Malice I like it because it has a good driving beat and a good organ in it
Please dont forget that anyone can add to the topic regardless of what the music is as its your forum just as much as mine, and if you like something why not share it with the rest of us

When I was still in school and for a couple of years after I left, the most popular group in Scotland by a mile was The Pathfinders. All the girls went mad for them. The lead singer Ian Clews had a very rare and magic charisma. He had a stage presence which just drew you in and mesmerised you. They were eventually signed to The Beatles Apple Label. The name was changed to White Trash but that was deemed to be too offensive and changed it to Trash. They only made a couple of records before disbanding a short time later. To my knowledge, only the keyboard player went on to great things, playing with Nazareth, Stone the Crows and The Jack Bruce Band. Here is their first single. It really doesn't capture any of the magic of their live performances. They were truly an amazing band to see live. It is a Carole King cover, "Road to Nowhere."

Hi Brian,
I enjoyed that, first time I have heard of them , the sound and arrangement was of that time. You mentioned Nazareth. Apart from the lead singer the sound was very similar, a good listen
All the best, Brian007

A couple of beautiful songs by Gerry Rafferty before "Baker Street* era He wrote this song for his mother "Mary Skeffington" her maiden name. The second song, I'm not certain but I think that it is based on a relationship he was in before he got married.

I wouldnt mind seeing these live, pity they are American , but put on a good show, the first piece is actually an instrumental piece he wrote to be played at his funeral , hence the title Funeral For Friend which then flows seamlessly into My Love Lies Bleeding which are the first 2 tracks from Yellow Brick Road album and for me his best work as a song writer

Brian. What a great band! The harmonies and those 'synthetic' sounds go wonderfully together. Could listen to more of this quite happily. Hugh

André Rieu Dutch violinist, conductor and founder of the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Watched a lot on U tube, he produces such an adverse range of music, pop classical, the lot.
This is one of my ways to get inspired to learn to play a piece of music,. Trying to learn La Paloma at the moment.
“André Rieu La Paloma in Mexico” is below. Watch him, the Orchestra and defiantly the audience.

I just love the sound of a saxophone, and that of a piano. So a saxophone playing with a piano accompaniment is just 'heaven' to my ears. Here is:
After the love has gone - "Sax & Piano" Eugene Afanasenko on Saxophone and Tatiana Ovcharova on Roland Piano.
And here is Tatiana Ovcharova playing that Roland Piano on her own. Really like the sound of that piano.

Hi ALL,
Its been a while since I posted in here, but this is a band from the late 60s - early 70s that shaped the music and the way the band I was in at the time moved forward with our music. This music didn't always go down well in some WMC but it all depended on the age group. If it was a disco night on a Friday we were alright with this one .

Everyone of our generation loved The Small Faces, didn't they ? I know I did. The girl is PP Arnold, I saw her in concert about ten years ago. I had a brief conversation with her in the foyer, she is a few years older than me but she looked amazing. She still has a great voice. Here she is in London from October this year.

Hi Brian,
Your right about the Small Faces a great band , but sadly short lived, PP Arnold certainly has a great voice still.

On the subject of the Small Faces,
Steve Marriott is a much better singer that Roger Plant by a mile, and he proves it, on this cover version of "If I Were a Carpenter" Also good to hear Fluff`s * Alan Freemans voice at the beginning of this video.

Yes, but Brian, considering this is a VEVO YouTube Video I cannot believe that it is in Two-track Mono! The whole recording is fudged with all the guitars coming from centre. Listen to this instead, and note where the 'echo' guitars are coming from .. the left hand channel.
Of course if you listened from a single speaker on a Laptop you wouldn't hear any difference. I like to listen to music with headphones so you do get the Stereo (and the bass coming through).

Hi Hugh,
I think the video I posted was a Mash up ? someone has taken the original sound track and added their own video to the original sound track which may have been a single ? hence all the lyrics on the righthand side of the video and the mono sound track.
I use Earbuds for my laptop keeps the wife, cat, dog and me all happy

Funnily enough, when I listened to several other postings of this on YouTube, none of them were 'Mono', but one had the stereo the other way round ie. those 'echo' guitars were coming from the right channel. So I suppose it all depends which way round they have their leads when they do a recording for YouTube. And maybe they're not that bothered anyway.

A very underrated singer who in my opinion does not get the recognition he deserved, but thats life here he sings on his own after leaving Manfred Man

I think these two are my favourite guitarists - Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler. Here they are playing "I'll See You In My Dreams", and "Imagine".
And this is my No: 1 favourite by them ..
Poor Boy Blues

Hi All,
This is one of the pieces of music I always listen to if I need inspiration with my music cause it reminds me that instrumentals will never die
and closely followed by a bit of good old glam rock

Back in the day when I was playing guitar in a band , this was my party piece, not that we played it much at gigs as it was to slow and it was hard enough getting an audience's attention as it was in Working Mens Clubs, but still a sad but lovely piece of music

Hi ALL,
I would not describe myself as a Punk fan, but this band is often described as a punk band, but to me its just mid sixties music with a good beat and just 3 chords and a lot of energy and a good Riff

Brian,
When you said, "Three chords" I thought they were going to be eg. C, F and G! But one of them is a very prominent 'minor' chord which makes it different from the start (and at the start). Listening to some of these pieces you have put up recently, and knowing you played in a band in your younger days, I reckon you were a right old rocker! (Sorry, young rocker!)
Loved your Peter Green - Man of the World. Beautiful. Did you really play a guitar like that? Can't imagine why you would want to stop playing it when you can play music like that.

hi Hugh,
They are minor chords in the Buzzcocks which makes it all the more interesting to play and listen to,
Peter Greene was a real good composer/songwriter and the skill was in his writing,
The Rhythm guitarist and I had played together since we where both 12 years old and could play that piece perfectly a lot of the guitar sound in that piece is down to a good echo chamber and the ability to play along side another guitarist
I did have my moments back in the day and liked anything with a good sound or beat

Different sort of band to the one I was in as a youngster. A dance band. So we played Foxtrots, Quicksteps and Waltzes. And the highlight of our day was to play a Rumba or a Tango!

Hi Hugh,
Everything has a time and a place especially in music, but that's what life's all about, variety everything in moderation
