Hi ALL

For those of you not familiar with the North East , the opening shots are of the Quayside showing the Tyne Bridge and the high level railway bridge.
the other bridge is I think the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge

Hi ALL,

I often listen to all different types of music just for inspiration and sometimes just looking for something I like and possibly play on my keyboard at home or when I am jamming along with some of my mates, this song has just gotten itself stuck in my head so thought I would share it on here

"Kiss Me" is a song recorded by American pop rock band Sixpence None the Richer from their 1997 self-titled album. Released as a single in August 1998, the song was a worldwide success; it reached No. 4 on the UK and New Zealand Singles Charts as well as No. 1 on the Australian and Canadian Singles Charts, making it the group's highest-charting single worldwide.

The singer has such a nice voice hope you enjoy it,

Hi Brian

I have not listened to Kebo for a couple of years, so thanks for the reminder. It is also nice to see you actively posting again.

My favorite is below, how if I need to concentrate on the music rather than the performance I use a Convertor to turn any performance into a MP3 file that I can just listen to. It is really easy to use and very quick. You can also get it to convert playlists into individual songs.

Brian,

That's a great video. Should cheer us all up. It was put up in 2012 and has had over 20 million views. Here are one or two comments from under the video:
ELO was so fantastic---never got all the accolades that they richly deserved !!

I didnt appreciate ELO in the 70s and 80s as a kid but now realize how awesome they were.

I swear, if this song doesn't make you tap your feet while watching this video, you have GOT to be dead!

Remember, you can always watch one of our embedded videos on YouTube itself .. and then you can read all the comments underneath. When the video starts up, click on the white words YouTube at the bottom and you will be launched into their site.

While we're on the subject of ELO, here is one that I have always liked. Sorry, not a 'foot-tapper'. A slow one.

Jeff Lynne's ELO - Telephone Line (Live at Wembley Stadium)

Comment from under the video:
The orchestra instruments are what separates this band from all others. Why doesn't a new band use this successful prototype. You can understand every word Jeff is singing. Full sounding, emotional soothing sound from the violin to the organ and don't forget the spaceship. THIS IS ELO!

I't's an incredible fact, that one man wrote, produced and sang all these wonderful songs. He is on the same level as Brian Wilson, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, one of the greatest songwriters and producers of all time - the one and only Jeff Lynne!

You must know by now that my kind of music is all in the harmony. And this one is tops!

Re: What are you listening to Now ? (4)

Hi ALL,

I did not really take a great deal of music in the early nineties, but recently came across this gem of a song by none other that Duran Duran , a group I had previously written off as not that interesting.

The story behind the song,

By the early 1990s, Duran Duran's popularity had faded. Their album Liberty had proved a commercial failure, its two singles failing to make a significant showing on the British or American charts. It was not until Capitol leaked "Ordinary World" to a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida during the second half of 1992 that it seemed like Duran Duran would find a resurgence in popularity. To their surprise, the single proved so popular that Capitol had to push the US release date up, ultimately releasing it in December.

The keyboards in the song were arranged and performed by Nick Rhodes and John Jones. The drums were played by Steve Ferrone at Maison Rouge. The guitar solo that characterises this song was arranged and performed by Warren Cuccurullo, former player with Frank Zappa. His instrumental rock trio version became a staple of his solo shows and was included on one of his solo albums "Roadrage".

The music video was filmed by director Nick Egan at Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California and the song later featured in the soundtrack to the film Layer Cake in 2005.

Simon LeBon later performed the song with Pavarotti at a WarChild benefit.[3] The performance was released on home video as Pavarotti & Friends: Together for the Children of Bosnia.

The lyric to "Ordinary World" were written by Simon Le Bon as the second of a trilogy of songs for his late friend David Miles; the others being "Do You Believe in Shame?" (1988) and "Out of My Mind" (1997).

Brian,

Thanks for posting that. Haven't heard of 'Simply Red' before, but this really was a song with some great harmony in it. And nice to see (and hear) orchestral instruments playing along as well as guitars. The audience obviously knew this song well as they joined in at the appropriate moments. What a great song!

One wonders when we are next going to see music performed like this .. with an audience so obviously enjoying the music.

Hi Hugh,

Yes live music is going to have to take a back seat for the foreseeable future , Glastonbury is off and I would imagine all the proms in the park and Hyde Park gigs will also be off so even if bands played live streams it would have to be to individual house as opposed to cinemas, Thank goodness for YouTube,

Not too keen on the drummer! If I had been using that rhythm on my keyboard (organ) I would have removed that 'rim shot' from the Rhythm PART. Went on and on .. and got to me in the end. I had to turn it OFF. Maybe it's my hearing aids that accentuate that particular frequency. I get the same when somebody behind me in the cinema/theatre is eating out of a bag of crisps. Feel like turning round and having words.

On my organ (and I'm sure you can do this with Yamaha keyboards too) I can go into the STYLE and get all the PARTS up on the screen. Go to the Rhythm PART (Rhythm 1 or Rhythm 2 .. usually the whole rhythm is in Rhythm 1), set the Rhythm to REC (Record) and 'play' it so you can listen to it. Don't play any notes while you are doing this or it will RECORD them!. STOP the Rhythm playing and identify from the notes (which now are all drum sounds) which drum sound you don't want to hear. By holding down the bottom left hand note on the Upper Manual (which is a C) and then pressing that drum note, it will REMOVE that drum sound from the mix. I would then have to SAVE my adjusted Rhythm to a USER slot. When you use that STYLE from the USER slot it will play without that drum sound you have removed. And that's what I'd do with that 'rim shot'!

Hi Hugh,

That`s the thing about live music its live, but yes he could have certainly dialed the snare drum down a touch , as you say you can on organs and keyboards alter or swap the drum kits and individual drum parts and alter the volume of each of the drum set up , but live your relying on the drummer to use his discretion
