Hi Brian,

Yes, liked that one. I do remember her. I am listening with my 'bass enhanced' headphones and am enjoying the heavy, deep bass. What always interests me about commercial recordings is how the bass and drums come to the fore. It was like this when I played in the band too. The drummer was a main contributor to our sound. I think sometimes when we play keyboards we are afraid of having the rhythm up too high and it often forms an insignificant part of the backing. Not so with this video!

Hi Hugh,

You're right you need a good bass and drums in anything that is remotely pop or rock orientated, in studios the drums and bass have a lot of compression on those two instruments, if I am doing a pop or rock tune I will always turn up the bass and drum track , but reduce the volume of the snare drum especially if its a rim shot as I find that intensely irritating  so there you go in a word compression

Hi ALL,

As the Beatles have been featured in our current challenge I thought some of you may be interested in their story, not a video but a podcast and split into small episodes covering a lot of their less well known songs and full of interesting facts

Hi ALL,

Slade were one of the the UKs top rock bands back in the day,and created one of the biggest selling Christmas songs ever, but even they had a softer side as can be seen in the video. A new What are you listening to Now ? will kick off tomorrow along with all the sport
