Actual Live Performances by real Genos users

Postby Brian007 » 21 Oct 2017 10:39

Hi all,

Started this thread for those that are interested and sitting on the fence waiting for the feedback and performances of real users before they think about committing to going and trying out a Genos at their local dealer, so heres the first one, remeber its about the keyboard and not the artist or music they are playing.

Gotta be honest ... listening to this sort of %$^&*£ music is not endearing me to the Genos at all ... over on the VOG group there are more than a few present day Yamaha dealers, these respected dealers are not very kind in their evaluation of this new keyboard ... anyone thinking of buying one needs to go and try it for themselves ... it is nothing like the Tyros so ordering it just on 'faith' would be foolish to say the least.

Hi Mike,

There has and still is a lot of hype surrounding this keyboard and definitely you need to go and try it out for yourself before committing to anything,
It will take a while for the feedback to come in from users , so best wait and see may be the best advice here as you have said

That is quite true Mike it is not a Tyros but a brand new concept in sound as well as many other things, yet still not difficult to use. One thing I think will interest a lot of home players is the new Song Book which has taken the place of the Music Finder. The good thing is that you can use your Styles, Reg and Multi pads as well as songs from your Tyros 4 and 5 so you won't loose any of your work. If you have bought packs they will be updated for you and you will download them from your account free as always.
Some lovely new styles and voices on Genos and it still has Organ World and Ensemble which of course will sound much richer.
Our friends in the USA have already got the Genos but we should have ours here shortly.

Hi Brian I enjoyed the Gig on the Genos and notced he did not appear to use the yamaha speaker system . I have noticed the speakers issued with the T1 up to the T5
produce a super sound and take some beating. Best Regards Michael.

Having watched the video above, all I can say is 'child's play'. It is 'child's play' to set the Style and Registration up, and a child could play it. Where is the musicianship in doing what he is doing? Surely the technology of the new Genos would enable the player to create something more spectacular and out of the ordinary. But then he was playing to the 'old folk' and I suppose you would say that 'old folk' wouldn't appreciate 'proper' music.

Deane had only received his keyboard the day before so was using his settings from his Tyros 5 on Genos. He has been playing for years and has played along side some famous names. I am sure many of us just play from registrations we have created with a style that suits the song. Think it was a little insulting to say older people probably would not appreciate proper music.
Genos is a really good keyboard and you have to know how to set it up to give you the best from it for your own personal taste.

Hi Michael,

Apparently Yamaha have updated the speaker system for the new keyboard, and as you say the older models speaker systems seem perfectly adequate for the job

Deane uses the Bose LI system which a lot use in the USA because they are not as expensive as over here.
Genos speakers and fittings are now back as they used to be but there is a different connection for the woofer now. I have ordered the speaker set for Genos with my keyboard as it is fine for home use.
