Technics GA3 Organ

Postby Peter S » 11 Oct 2017 07:59

Love my Technics GA3 organ. In fact, like my AR100 organ I have had three of these, too good to be without!
There can be no hope for me!
Keep the music playing!
Organs: Roland AT800; Technics GA3; Technics U60; Yamaha EL90. Keyboards: Korg Pa4X; Technics KN1600.

I had a GA1 for about seven years then rather foolishly parted with it. Recently I have played a couple of GA3s with a view to buying one of them but felt they were a bit over priced. .. Fred

Hi Fred
I don't do dealers usually, as they can be expensive.
I am lucky that I have a large van available to use, and I enjoy seeing the bargains out there on eBay or preloved.
I don't mind travelling if I can get a good price, as a tank of Diesel is only about £60 I can pretty much travel anywhere UK and back for that.
My GA3 was from Selby in Yorks (I'm in Manchester) cost £200.
My AR100 was from Sterling, Scotland, cost £200. I enjoyed a night camping in my van when I collected this one, I had a hook up, so enjoyed playing it that evening on the campsite with a few celebratory beers!!
Keep the music playing!

Hi Peter,
The GA 3 is a fantastic organ, just listen to John Bowdler on his.
I find travelling very tiring these days and I look enviously at a lot of bargains on ebay.
Most of them are just too far away. It costs around £400 to move one up from Southern England to
Scotland. Not only that, I would want to inspect it first.
There is a nice Hammond on Ebay just now and if it was in Central Scotland, I would buy it.
I got my EL 70 from Whitley Bay Organs for £300 and that included delivery but the owner sadly died
and her sons did not want to continue with the business.

Peter. I don't travel far from Nottingham these days but both the Technic GA3s were local and for sale privately. Both over £700. Far to much for a private sale with no guarantee I feel. .. Fred

That does seem a little over priced Fred. I often see GA1's on EBay sell for under £200. Another good source is Preloved, and
and Organ and Keyboard Cavalcade mags.
The beauty of these and the GA3's is that they 'split' for transport by simply removing four screws, and then fit in most hatchbacks. Wish all Organs were like that.

Brian,
I take your point about it being nice to see the organ first.
As well as being assured by an EBay seller that everything works ok, I always ask for a more detailed description, i.e. Are there any marks, scratches, dents etc.
Also, Detailed photos of any damage can be very helpful.
It is always a sigh of relief though when I finally see it in the flesh!!
I have been lucky really, both Organs are superb.
Keep the music playing!

I did have a GA1 for a while, and thought it was lovely.

Because they are so affordable I upgraded to the bigger, more powerful GA3.

Here is a recording I made on my GA1 'Only Yesterday'.

Very wise Fred.

Have you managed to get yourself a GA3 yet locally?

No. I recently purchased a Lowrey Rialto and I'm still getting over the shock of having to pay so much for it. I will resume looking for a GA3 soon. .. Fred
