7 chord progressions and why they work

Postby Brian007 » 30 Mar 2022 14:03

hI all,

I love Chord progressions, for me they are the Bread and Butter of my music and what happens in between is the filling, in the video you will see 7 of the most common chord progressions, these can be used for creating your own intros or middle 8 instrumentals , so sit back and enjoy

Brian,

Thanks so much for posting that. It puts so many of the songs we liked so much in our youth into a musical context. When I was younger I didn't really take much notice of what the chord progression was. I just learnt the chords for each song and played them. One chord progression I was aware of was the 'Blue Moon' progression .. C, Am, Dm, G. Or, to make it non-specific to a particular key, I, vi, ii, V. So many songs in those days used that progression .. like this one:

Chordettes - Lollipop
