A Trumpeter's Lullaby is a short composition for solo trumpet and orchestra, written by American composer Leroy Anderson in 1949 at the request of Voisin, who was principal trumpeter of the Boston Pops Orchestra at the time. It premiered on May 9, 1950, by the Boston Pops Orchestra with Arthur Fiedler conducting and French-born American Roger Voisin as trumpet soloist, who also produced the first recording a month later.
Hi Charles, Trumpeters Lullaby, One of my favourite pieces brilliantly Performed by you. I particularly loved the brass band backing. Regards Don.

Loved that combination of Trumpet and Horn. Tell me, as we can hear Trumpet (on the Upper?) and Horn and harmonies (on the Lower?) I presume that you do not actually have three hands, but did a 'double recording'? Multi-tracked it is the expression, I think.

Ken .. I have played this piece on my Yamaha AR 80 organ. I have ordered a Ringway RS1000E digital organ, but am still waiting for that to be delivered.
Hugh .. I split the lower keyboard and put a horn on the upper split which I occasionally brought into play by stretching my right hand between upper and lower keyboard; I've not tried doing a double recording as yet. Stretching to play two keyboards with one hand does take a lot of slow practice which, in the early days, seems to be getting nowhere, then one day it just sort of comes together. I had the solo Dixie Trumpet on the upper keyboad. I used the right foot switch to change the registrations.
What inspired me to have a go at this tune was this guy Brandon Ridenour on Youtube:
I had listened to a few artists performing this piece on Youtube but to my mind, I thought he played it perfectly.

Hi Charles What a lovely trumpet you must be out of breath playing that one. I do not think it would rock anyone to sleep as a lullaby only peaceful at the end. Joking apart a lovely tune well played, John
