For starters with this keyboard, here is a Technics SX-KN7000 demo. Probably best to 'Watch on YouTube' when it starts as you can then read the comments people have written underneath.

I have owned the Technics KN7000 since they first came out after the KN6500 some 15 or more years ago. Indeed I ran a club in the North Wilts area for 11 years teaching other owners how to get the best out of this wonderful keyboard.
I still use it today playing in an Abba Tribute group and a Dire Straits Tribute group.

Hi,

You certainly know your way around the the KN7000 , I have never played one but seen and heard a couple being played live and I was impressed by the quality of the sound.

I listened to the mp3 you posted and picked up on some of the riffs from ABBA and Dire Straits and they sounded very good.

Rog,

That track was great! Bit of nostalgia there. I have added a LINK into your posting so Members can listen to the music directly from the Forum.

I have a Technics KN7000 which I use alongside an Orla GT 9000 GLX2, the reason being that I am not very competant player and rely heavily on auto accompanient backings so I use the KN for the backings, sacriledge I can hear cries in the background.
For many years I bought and exchanged a range of music modules and orchestral backing units etc as I have to admit my left hand can do little else but play chords having never had any musical training and the auto sections make my playing much more interesting ( at least to me ! )
But most expenders fall down in one area or another and are never quite what you wanted or expected, but to be fair this use was probably not what the manufacturer intended.

The Technics have a society ( not official) and have made available a tremendous amount of styles taken from the whole range of Technics keyboards and some from Yamaha and put them on an SD card which can be used in the KN 7000 which including some duplications run to roughly about 800 !

I have found that when attempting to marry any organ to an expander many midi problems can arise and also feeding the unit through the aux circuits of an organ so you can control the expander from the organ keyboard is not always successful and you can have issues with volume differences, having been frustrated many times with these issues I came up with a simple solution.

I run them as separate units but link them on the output side by mixing in a juncion box, sound crazy, not for the purist who would be horrified but basically I accompany the Technice on the organ while it is playing a backing I have chosen from it's SD card. Of course you can play the KN keyboard from the organ but normally I keep the KN keyboard muted, but you can add an extra voice from it if you wish and there are some classy voices in there. Again it slowly grew but my aim was to find something to improve on the basic organ's rhytm section that did not run into thousands. This set up is clumsy by today's standards but the permutations of voices, rhythms are almost endless and give hours of entertainment in just trying something different. More details if anyone would like them.
I will post a tune in the preformances section a.s.a.p. Ken

Hi Ken,
Very interesting article, auto accompianiment or not, it doesn't matter. Infact, most of our members play keyboards or play organs in a
keyboard style. I sometimes like to use my Ringway's auto accompaniment but along with the pedals.
I have heard a fair amount of the KN 7000 and I like it a lot but any keyboard as a stand alone instrument regardless of make, is not for me.
I would much rather have something like the Orla Sport as it is a good keyboard but with pedals.

Very nice to have you on board, looking forward to hearing more from you. :D :D

I have MOVED Ken's post from the Instrumentals Board to this one. In this post Ken is showing us some of the features of his KN7000 keyboard.

Ken ... I have put your MP3 into Audacity and NORMALISED it so the volumes are up to normal levels. The LINK below goes to the 'adjusted' MP3 which I have stored in my Box Account. .. Hugh

Technics Auto Backings

My apologies if this is in the wrong section but this is instrumental ! This keyboard has an extra section on auto accompaniments which is split into 10 categories with 6 options in each one, I have no idea if this is a feature on many other keyboards, but each category has two 8 bar solos that you can use in your playing with the other options being fills, glisses and hits of various kinds, all in addition to the standard fills and intros. i have only recorded the 8 bar solos here for interest reasons.
Any rhythm can be set to any category so it is very versatile, I have picked a couple of general rhythms just for demonstration and one BPM speed

The trouble I find is that the 8 bar solos are so good you would have to be very good to merge them with your own playing and have them go un noticed !

Yes Ken I remember these but don't remember using them much. Now on Yamaha keyboard we have the choice of using an intro for a bridge. Usually intro two works well for this.
