Faulty Tyros repairs

Postby Ron » 24 Feb 2022 13:01

Hi fellow keyboard players
Some of you may recall my posts from last year when I was looking for help for my faulty Tyros3.
A repair man popped up on the Internet and he offered to help. He duly called, tested the Tyros
and said he would have to take it to his workshop which was in another region of Scotland.
This happened in November last year and I am still waiting for the return of my Tyros. I have had
to resort to using the threat of a domicillary visit to him to get a response from him. Next week was the response.
I have heard this previously. If and when I get it back in a working state I will have to learn how to play it all over again.
So beware handing your instrument to some one from the Internet

Hi Ron,

That is just a bit scary not knowing if you are actually going to get it back or not ? I really hope you do

Ron,

At least you did manage to contact him .. and got a reply. If he had been uncontactable then that would have been a really bad omen. Maybe he hasn't been that clever at fixing it. Maybe ask him to have it back whatever state the keyboard is in. That may spur him on to get it fixed.

If it’s a company called ‘Broken Chords’, it’s the same company (person) that repaired my Tyros 4 the parts were quite expensive but repaired it no problem and return in full working order.

My Tyros was returned today by the repair person. I will not mention his name as I do not want to be spiteful or tarnish his reputation. It remains to be seen if it is now in a stable condition. I could not even remember where the off/on switch was so not looking to hopeful about actually trying to play. I should add that it has been quite a while since I actually played seriously due to this state of my hands and joints. Fingers crossed I can resume playing again.

Don't cross you fingers though. Doing that will just make your keyboard more difficult to play.

Hi all,

So far my Tyros3 seems to be working. However I have noticed that all songs in the Music Finder Database have all changed to Yamaha’s own names. Can anyone supply me any details on sourcing a MF database with correct names of the songs? I have found one source but unsure how old it is so unwilling to use it.
