Sadly I don't think there is anything similar in my area.
I checked out your concert programme for 2017 and it looks brilliant.
Although I don't have any trips south of the border arranged this year,
you never know, I may be able to get to one of them.

Elizabeth Harrison was very good. She plays a Roland (organ). She was very proud of 'being a farmer', and has a thing about keeping smaller organ/keyboard clubs going.

The next meeting of the Weston-super-Mare Organ and Keyboard Club is Thursday 6th April, when we have Len Rawle coming.

A very good evening. David Harrild had the Yamaha Tyros 5 TRX System set up, which he seemed to be promoting.

More information on David Harrild and the Yamaha TRX System here:

Our next meeting is on Thursday June 1st, and the Artiste is Matthew Bason.

Matthew played a Roland organ, and he had a digital piano. He also sang (opera style), and played his piano accordion. The music he played/sang was not my cup of tea, but it seemed to go down well with the audience.

Our next meeting is on Thursday July 6th. The artiste is Michael Wooldridge complete with his own drummer.

Hi! Hugh
I see in March you had E Harrison. She is good. I remember her telling us she comes from farming stock and now has her own farm. She collects vintage tractors. Also when the council stopped tidying the verges in her village she took on the task herself but blokes used to pinch her wheelbarrows. So she painted hers pink and the blokes were too macho to be seen with it.
Delightful young lady Ken.

I didn't go to the Michael Wooldridge concert last month, mainly because I find the drummer a bit overpowering. The 'drummer frequencies' adversely affect my hearing aids! At least with electronic drums from the organ, the organist can control the 'balance' between the music and the rhythm.

This month it was Tim Flint, again with a Roland organ. The Roland had some good 'string' sounds, and a Glenn Miller set-up that was really authentic. Also, the Roland has a 'HOLD' facility on the Upper which he can operate with his foot. Which means he can 'hold' notes on the Upper while he takes his hand off to play notes on the Lower. A very useful thing to be able to do.

When Tim came on the stage, he greeted us with a loud, "Hello, Weston-super-Mare", to which we all responded. He told us he did that at every concert he did. "Hello Bolton", "Hello Stockport" etc. He said all went well until he played in the Isle of Wight. He was playing for the W.I. in Cowes. It all went wrong when he greeted them with "Hello Cow..." !!!

I also discovered that Michael Wooldridge didn't bring his drummer this time. It is more expensive for the club when he has his drummer. I shall have to check up next time he comes.

Jean tells me your club it is still going strong. Had a chat with Byron this week. He was just back from the Torbay festival. Sad he lost the Rottweiller. Ken

Hi! Hugh.
We had Elizabeth Harrison last week. She played Roland Atelier and Yamaha Stagea. Good programme. Lovely talented lady. I noticed she had a gadget beside her which inputted music through line in. This added well to her playing. Its good to see them using technology. It adds interest. Ken S
