Hymns for Harvest 2020

Hi

Here's this week's selection. Since church is reopening, I thought I'd play something a bit challenging to open the service. It's an organ setting of the hymn known in the UK as "How Great Thou Art", by Dutch organist Martin Mans. Great fun, but a bit of a pig to play in places!

The opening hymn is "We Plough the Fields..." I had fun with this multitracking organ & harpsichord.

Next a short worship song.

The closing hymn is "Great is Thy faithfulness"

And a closing voluntary on a harvest hymn that didn't get chosen for the service.

Enjoy.

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi! Tony.
A great choice of hymns for a wonderful time of the year. Well played. I have celebrated a good harvest this last week or two by picking a 100 lbs of apples and 24 lbs of Morrello cherries. Unfortunately my grapes are unlikely to ripen. Never mind. I am grateful for what I have. Am busy preserving. regards Ken S.

Hi Tony. I echo Ken’s comments. I know them all apart from Faithful god. We plough the fields didn’t load which was a pity will try again later. Some fancy footwork on the How great and I have never heard it right through.
I’m like Ken picking fruit plums, apples, pears and raspberries etc plus lots of vegetables from the allotment.
Thanks for giving the day a Harvest feel. Keep safe. John
Managed to load it and pleased I did a great one to singalong to.
Watching Last night of the Proms. Some excellent musicians and singers. Once again. Thanks. John

Thanks for the positive comments.

We plough is running OK this morning. Off to play the pieces live at church shortly - first service back in church since March.

Every Blessing

Tony

Dear Reverend Tony, I listened intently to the hymns, as if I were peeking over your shoulder. They're all very beautiful. The first half of Martin Mans' "How Great Thou Art" is simply of a pairless harmonic beauty. You play without losing a single note, not even a coma. Congratulations. 8)

Thanks Carlos

The first 2 sections of the Martin Mans are the (relatively) easy bit. There are several edits in the toccata though! It went pretty well live on Sunday morning - and got a round of applause!

Thanks again

Every Blessing
