Armistice

Postby kens » 08 Nov 2020 13:13

Hi!
As today represents the 100th anniversary of the entombing of the The Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey I decided to submit Nimrod. This is usually played at the Cenotaph.
I thought last nights BBC programme on the subject was awesome. In particular the films of massed bombers brought back memories of seeing on occasions giant armadas of 200 plus bombers flying in formation very low and slowly over Bristol at lunch time. They bombed the aircraft factory at Filton on one Monday killing a lot of women. On the Friday they returned at the same time but as they approached 11 Hurricane fighters took off from Filton and it was incredible to see the mass off bombers wheeling away and fleeing. The fighters had been brought in at short notice. It also brought back memories of how the German civilians also suffered. I remember being in Germany at the war end and seeing the miles of devastation. Also very few men about and women ploughing fields using oxen to pull equipment. No horses or tractors. Germany holds its own remembrance ceremony next Sunday. How stupid it all was.

Hi Ken. Last nights Remembrance Day was very poignant even without the audience. The whole production is well choreographed. Liked your performance a fitting tribute. Keep safe. John

Hi Ken

Nice accurate performance. I would tend to take it a bit slower (but I do usually play it in church), and you could make more of the dynamics - it starts really soft, then builds & builds, and then drops back to a whisper at the end.

Keep it up.

Every Blessing
