While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night

Here's another favourite for you.
While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night.
Click the below to listen.
Not what you were expecting?
Hymns and Carols consist of two parts, the words and the tune.
For a change, I have chosen a different tune for this
instead of the one you are probably familiar with.
So same words, sung to a different tune.
Regards, Don

Hi Don,

Not the tune I know. Have looked for your tune on YouTube and have come up with the below. I reckon it is the second tune of the three?

Hi Don. Something quite different. I vaguely heard something like this before. It takes a bit to get used to to sing the words. I suppose it is like that with all new songs. Nicely played. John

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That gave me a good grounding. Cheers.

Hi

I know of that tune (Lyngham - often sung to "O for a Thousand Tongues to sing..") to While Shepherds - it's appeared in a few carol books. Never used it to that hymn though. If I want an alternative to the usual tune I go for "Cranbrook" (better known as "On Ilkley Moor Ba,tat!).

I assume you played it by ear, as the repeated notes in the refrain section are normally in the tenor & bass parts. Nice arrangement though. Keep up the good work,
