Hi ALL,

Came across this on YouTube and was blown away by this song by some one I had never really rated Chris Rea. The song is called " Because of You " not me playing.

The video is a slide show of old pictures of Chester-le-Street, not by me but a local historian

Hi Mike,

I knew he was a local lad but apart from the 2 songs you mentioned I had never really taken much interest in him, until I heard this track that's on the video a very good guitar player and songwriter.

Hello Brian, Those are not "old" photos. That is exactly as it was when I was a child. (In my mind about 10 years ago :) :? ) Thanks for posting. Regards, Den.

Hi Den,

Know what you mean, time just slips by things change or disappear and we dont always notice, good job that someone keeps a photographic record of these changes.

Brian,

What a brilliant idea for a Topic! I have created this new Board for things like this. If you have any more of Chester-le-Street please add to this as a POSTREPLY.

Any you find of anywhere else start as a NEWTOPIC. Towns near you? Newcastle? Durham?

Hugh

PS. I have found some of Weston-super-Mare that I shall be putting up.

Some excellent photos there Brian. Drove to Chester le Street this morning as my son lives there. This shows just how much the place has changed. When I was a bairn it seemed like miles away. Our mams used to arrange a bus trip for us to spend the day in Chester from Sunderland. Walk around the Friday market and then off to Riverside Park. The older lads would be by the river practising how to tickle the little trout we'd find. Happy days.

Hi,

it has changed and not much of it for the better, market is virtually non existent now on either Tuesday or Friday and even the Saturday car boot type market is not in the Market Place now but up opposite the Post Office where Inshops was which has now been demolished, sign of the times I am afraid.
