Click go the Shears

One of my old dance pieces. Read the story.

Shearing Time
When I was young and in my prime
I mustered sheep at shearing time
I’d call the dogs and see them run
And that is when the work begun.

For the story :D  click the below.

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That gave me a good grounding. Cheers.

Reminds me of my childhood working with the sheep. I was the little kid who always got butted by the ram. Misfortune follows me. Cheers Ken S.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Ken, I can agree! the ram had me on top of the potato harvester. He was butting the frame so hard that others had to come and rescue me.

"Click Go the Shears" is a traditional Australian bush ballad. The song details a day's work for a sheep shearer in the days before machine shears.

The enduring popularity of this song reflects the traditional role that the wool industry has played in Australian life. The song describes the various roles in the shearing shed, including the "ringer", the "boss of the board" and the "tar boy". After the day's shearing, the "old shearer" takes his cheque and heads to the local pub for a drinking session.

By special request.
