Walking in the Air

Postby Ron » 16 Dec 2023 14:08

This was recorded by Aled Jones and was written in 1982 for an animated film called The Snowman.
There was a complaint recently that there were no styles for some tunes that members wanted to record.
This is an example of what adaptation can be done.

Hi Ron. One of my favourites. Enjoyed your version and some sounds to match. I will have to get the music out again. John

Ron,

Using a FreePlay Style for this was a brilliant move! As you said, there are no Styles for some tunes, and this is one of them. Your version of this has some really lovely harmonies, and you get a richness from using a FreePlay Style that you wouldn't otherwise have had.

The piano sound you were using really intrigued me, as I could identify lower notes played to the left coming from the left; and higher notes played to the right coming from the right. Listening, it was like sitting and playing a real piano. I gather you achieved this very subtle 'stereo' effect by having two pianos selected, one in R1 and one in R2.

Those strings sounded lovely too and made such a contrast to the piano sound you had just before.

As you said, this piece was sung by Aled Jones for an animated film called 'The Snowman'. That in itself was a brilliant bit of artistry, and if you haven't watched it before then click on the below. Watch it Full Screen to get the best effect.

Hi there Ron,
A very nice performance of this classic old number well played and voiced I enjoyed listening my friend. :D :D :D

Jon D. :) :)
Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That gave me a good grounding. Cheers.
