Twin setup with Tyros 3 (midi problem)

Postby Ron » 04 Jan 2013 18:40

Hello all,

I picked up a Yamaha Piaggero NP11 at my local music shop sale this afternoon. It is now connected via midi cable to my T3 and all is working except 1 item. I cannot silence the Left hand voice on the T3. I followed the normal setup instructions available on the web but page to receive and set CH1 from song to LEFT does not seem to work. The workaround I have had to use is to turn off the Left Voice volume using the slider control on the T3.

Has anyone gone down this road? Btw, the NP11 is not a bad piano type board to play.
All I need now is the £700+ required for a set of Hammond midi bass pedals :-(

Regards,

Ron

Hiya Ron,

Congratulations on your purchase of the NP11, the two instruments working together will be great and I look forward to listening to your work on it

Unfortunately Ron, I am a 'midi duffer' ... I just don't have the patience to read-up on it so I am not at all qualified to advise you on any possible solution to your problem ... however, we do have a new member JohnG aka SysExJohn who is a wizard on all things midi: So I have 'edited' your topic title to indicate that you could do with some help with a midi related problem and I am sure that John will pick it up next time he's on line

All the best.

Thanks Mike.

Seems I posted a piece of misinfirmation: when CH1 is set to Song, the LEFT voice on the T3 is not being silenced and so I am using the slider volume control to cut off the left audio. Supposedly it is possible to do 2 setups for LEFT OFF or ON. Not a big deal as I have now discovered.

I seem to have taken to playing both keyboards as if I had been playing dual keyoard instruments for years which of course I have not. It was only an idea, after watching Richard Bower last month playing his twin/bass pedal setup at our local organ club in Edinburgh, to brighten up my week :D

Regards,

Ron

All I know is when using as a twinset you have to set the split point to the very last note on the left.If you can get hold of a Regi stick for tyros 3 it will have a tenplate on it to set this up for you.

Thanks for the input Eileen, but I already have a template for this and the split point is set at C1.

Still experimenting to get the NP11 to perform other functions than just acting as a "dumb" keyboard for the left hand section of the T3.

Ron

Hi Ron,
That is the idea of setting it up as a twin set.If you want both keyboards to work independantly then you need to set them up in a different way.
