Some real impressive voices in that demo,
isnt there supposed to be a midi to style converter or something like that built in ?

Having had a Korg and a Yamaha I would say it very much a personal choice.
Unless things change the thing Korg lack is after sales support when it comes to finding extra voices or styles of even help, but that`s just my personal experience and maybe I was looking in the wrong places, I think it will be hard to sell the PAX4 with the introduction of the Yamaha 970 on grounds of price but time will tell.

Hi Brian

I think the comparison between the S970 and the PA4X is not really applicable as they are totally different. The new PA4X is more akin to the Tyros 5.
I agree though about the availability of custom styles, the Yamaha community seem much more willing to share tweaked styles etc.

Hi Brian

Yes, ver 2 made many significant improvements to the PA4. More styles, more voices, better OS, KAOSS, style converter improvements. A major update freely available to download from the KORG UK website.

Further to this, we now have ver 2.1 available for download, AND 'OSIMO' (many great songbook entries created by pro players like Pete Shaw on the PA4) these are complete sets of styles/registrations that can be used at the press of a button to set up the whole sound of the PA4 instantly. These sounds cover the whole musical genre, and can be easily located.

All of this and more can be downloaded free from the KORG UK website via a USB stick and uploaded fairly easily and quickly to the PA4 following the instructions provided.

I am very happy to own the PA4x, my high expectations in both sound and quality have been exceeded :)

Hi Peter,

Seems like an excellent Keyboard, I sold my Tyros5 and downsized to a Korg PA700 and must admit to being pleasantly
surprised at the quality of the voices and the flexibility the keyboards offers,

The only Downside is the PA4 has no built in speakers, so even though it is light and portable I can only take it on holiday with headphones or lots of speakers. The PA700 has its own speakers built in, which I believe are very good.

I get round this problem by keeping my old Technics KN1600 permanently stored in my caravan. It has great quality built in speakers, and prevents me from missing the keyboard on holiday!

Glad to hear you are happy with your PA700, especially coming to it from Tyros 5.

Hi Peter,

The Tyros 5 was / is a great keyboard and it was not a decision I took lightly selling it, but I had and am intending to do more music using my Ipad and
the 49 note midi keyboard i have as the Ipad is a great bit of kit for music and the quality of the sound is superb , and as I also have a static caravan it fits in well when I am down there, but then I got my eye on the Korg PA700 and for the price it's a great piece of equipment and its more flexible than the Tyros 5 was when it comes to using it with my Daw on the computer and Ipad.

So for me it was a win win situation, yes it a big change from yamaha and some things are better and some ar not, but its never been a perfect world
and the Korg fits in better with my style of playing, composing and producing the music I like along with the Ipad.

All the best, Brian007
