Postby Brian007 » 01 Sep 2017 09:04

A brand new arranger from Korg, which is exactly the same price as the Yamaha 970

Interesting!

Peter S .. I know you have just had your Korg PA4X "upgraded" with the latest Korg software (which I gather was FREE). Do you get similar sounds to the above?

Hi Hugh and Brian
Yes, it looks nice doesn't it.
I believe it is priced around half the price of the PA4 which would mean somewhere around the £1500 mark. Reviews I've read suggest this is a great bit of powerful kit, which I'm sure it is. Much of the technology used is from the range topping PA4, which is a superb keyboard in my opinion. Unlike PA4 which has no speakers, the PA1000 has its own powerful speakers built in which makes it truly portable.
My advice would be to try both before buying either.

Hi Peter,

The price I have seen somewhere is around £1,750 which is about the same as the Yamaha equivalent model the PRS970

Important features taken from the PA4 and used on the PA1000 include :-
The same large 7" tilting LCD colour touch screen - which works beautifully btw.
Style Creator built into the keyboard - create a suitable style in seconds from a SMF. I've had some good and bad results, mostly good, and an excellent useful feature to create that unusual style your after.
More brilliant DNC voices.
KAOSS - add effects and sounds to any drums and patterns simply by moving your finger across the touchscreen. See the 'KAOSS' video above. Incredible sounds using this.
TC Helicon Voice Vocoder - brilliant for vocalists, add harmonies, effects live or recorded to your singing. I love this feature,
It even makes me sound good!
Here's a live recording I made using the Helicon on my PA4 - May not be in stereo, as I am currently discovering that many of
my recordings were recorded accidentally, and disappointingly by my recording equipment in mono only.

Hi Brian

You mention that the equivalent Yamaha model is the S970. I would suggest not, the only similarity is the price.

With the P1000 you get a good keybed with full initial AND after touch.
3 right hand voices.
The 4 speakers with stereo amp gives you a very powerful built in sound system.

Hi Fred,

The comparison`s that I was making was, they are both one model down from the top of the range model
and have a very similar price range, Be interesting to see what the reviews and user comments are in 6 months time

Thanks Brian

Your right, I really love this keyboard a lot, it is amazing, especially since the latest version 2.00 upgrade. Although I do carry on and enjoy playing organ(s!) to for that .. ow u say ..
.. 'complete' sound.

Keep the (stereo) music playing!

Peter,

Enjoyed listening to that vocal of yours. You always seem to find the most unusual pieces to play!

Re: Your catchphrase: Keep the (stereo) music playing! ...

... the piece you have played above is in stereo. The green bars were moving separately in the left and right channels, and if you look at the waveforms of the two channels .. they are not the same.

Hi VAL7JEAN ,

I don`t have a Korg PA1000 I have the PA700 which is the model and I sold my Tyros 5 and bought the KorgPa700 and have never regretted it for a moment
Its a slightly different operating system to Yamaha but I found that there where lots of thing I could do with the Korg I could not do on the Yamaha

So for me I prefer the Korg at the moment
