Hi Steve,
To be honest I tend now to wait for the videos as you can see and hear more than at a live concert, not the same atmosphere I know ?
As someone that gigged in a band in the late 1960s it was hard work for what you got especially working mens clubs , but it was your bread and butter. In the beginning we did not have an agent and got work by word of mouth, then we went with an agent but you could play 7 nights a week and after taking the agents cut off it was the same as you would get for doing just 5 nights of your own work, that in my opinion was the start of agents fees,
Once, you just listened to a band playing, but as the venues got bigger along came the big screens , live video feeds and all the rest , and someone has to pay for it all and its usually the tickets sales that pays for it all, like going to the cinema its the sweets , food sales that make it expensive now
